About ten years ago I got my then girlfriend's nephew one of those little stocking filler presents, and it proved to be the most popular present for the whole family on Christmas day.
A small tube of 'Fart Putty', from Zest in Soho. A little plastic tube, with some putty/plasticine type material in it, you lifted up the material to allow some air under, then pressed you thumb into it, and the sound of flatulence ensued. Simple, silly, very addictive, very popular, about £1.20, I think.
One of the best presents I have ever bought for anyone.

Hi,
If there is one industry that is in need of a proper shake up in quality, fairness and value for money? it's this one!!!
I think alot of stuff for children in the shops today is very badly priced and made. It was quite hard work this year trying to sort through all the dross on offer in major toy stores. It gets harder every year!
The two i mentioned earlier were just pure luck to be honest and most of the other stuff we purchased for our children was just simply pure crap. We all feel cheated if you know what i mean...to some degree.
I put this thread out to see what others thought were good toys... and it is great to hear of others findings regarding good quality toys.
Now if only alot of the toys were as good as the packaging they come in and were easier to unpack to boot... Some of these toy manufacturers really should be shot and put to rest.
Happy new year!
Steve

Yep i agree, LEGO is a no brainer. It works, lasts and is well made.
Keeps children occupied for hours on end and is very rewarding to boot.
P.S. I got one of my five year olds a £15 boom box for Chrimbo from a major supermarket and he absolutely loves it, won't stop playing it.
Me? i run a mile
I just hope he dosen't get the upgrade bug!
Could quite possibly be one of naim's future addicts...He loves my main rig although i will not rub it in while he's enjoying his new all in one kit

Just tried out a telescope i got my eldest son - not too bad, can see the moon clearly on a clear night but thats ya lot. All the other add on scopes and lenses are a waste of time, OTT for the quality of the scope. The tripod is a complete joke, too flimsey...i managed to anchor it proper by using some other DIY means on a concrete floor.
Dosen't quite do what is says on the tin but sort of works; just...

Is this really "Best toy at Chrimbo for the kids" ... or should it really be entitled ... "Best toy (given to the kids) for the Dads"?

Love those things. I have set at the office and a set at home. There have been many sales of bucky balls as a result of friends and colleagues seeing mine.

Didn't we have something like that in the UK but they got pulled 'cos if kids swallowed enough they ended up attracting each other through their internal organs?
Cue ruptured intestines and such!

My nephew (14) got an iPod Touch from his Mum and Dad for Christmas. The first thing he did with it was download the iFart app. And then a whole heap of flatulence simulators. He and his cousins then spent much of the day hooting with laughter - especially when the iPod was connected up to my brother's hi-fi.
Childish and crude, certainly. But very funny (for a few hours, at least).
