Nait-pre or 72?

Posted by: roach on 11 April 2003

Hi all,

Should I convert my nait back to an integrated so I'll get more cash for it, sell it, and buy a second hand 72?

Will the phono board fit in a 72?

Would it make a worthwhile difference?

Cheers

Tony,

In a word.. Yes.

A dedicated pre-amp is going to sound much better than a make-shift pre-amp.

The 72 was a pretty good pre-amp in its time and still sounds good.

What power amp are you partnering it with?

A 72/hi/180 is a very good amp to aim for.

NB,

It's a 140.

Tony,

The 140 will partner the 72 quite nicely. With the addition of a hi-cap you will have a very good amp.
