How does a power amp benefit from a PSU added to a preamp?

Dear Forum,

This may be to obvious to ask-but I will anyway! There are many threads that have centered around the clear benefits to a preamp conferred by adding a PSU. However, is there also a benefit to power amp performance when it is freed from the heavy burden of powering the pre?

Yes! They say that upgrading to a hicap has a similar effect (among others) to upgrading the power amp. Certainly a hicap will gain more grip, control and bass extension from your system.

Of course, current demands are lowered on the PSU of the power-amplifier when adding a hicap. More importantly, the pre-amplifier benefits immensely from a better PSU.

Andrew,

That's exactly my question. My Hicap on my preamp improves things greatly. I have always assumed that this was due to the improved supply to the preamp. I was wondering of any of the improvement was also due to reducingthe demands on the power amp PSU.
