Annoying Browser

Posted by: Seanf on 24 March 2007

Any ideas how I can revert this annoying text (Arcor...) to 'Microsoft Internet Explorer'. It happened when I temporarily installed a driver for a modem. I later uninstalled it but this thing will not go. It appears on every site I visit.

Its not causing any problems but just annoys me.

Thanks

It is a registry thing. The text in the "Application Window Title Bar", is set in the registry. Unless you know what you are doing editing the registry is not recommended. A quick hunt around suggests that this will help you - but use at your own risk of course. More info on correcting the registry here.

You'd be better off trying a better browser.

I like firefox...

I do use Firefox as well as others to test websites that I make, but for some reason still opt for IE for everyday browsing.

Applehead here, I've got Mac-Firefox and it's not bad, but I prefer Safari - of course.

BTW what's wrong with good old Netscape

Netscape....or as the geeks say, Nutscrape.

I'll never forget installing Netscape on a PC and never being able to properly uninstall it. Like Nortons, I will never again entertain it on any PC I get any choice about.
