I have always had a soft spot for Mott The Hoople and some of his solo stuff wasn't half bad either.
You have also reminded me that I lent someone my copy of "Diary of a Rock'n'Roll Star" about 25 years ago and they still haven't returned it! :-//

Blimey, I remember revising for exams (O levels maybe?) to the dudes.
Time to dig it out again - I love it, in a nostalgic kind of way

Tom Jones certainly looks younger with longer hair.

One of my absolute heros. Mott the Hoople is never far from shaking my speaker cabinets with overdrive. I really like his solo work, especially the first with Ronson and All American Alien Boy with Queen backing vocals (you nearly did me in), Jaco Pastorius on bass, Aynsley Dunbar on drums and Chris Stainton on keys. I liked Rant as well. I have some really great bootlegs of both Mott and Ian solo that are some of my all time favorites.

Just playing the 30th Anniversary reissue of Mott The Hoople Live. Expanded and utterly wonderful. They are reforming and playing London in October.

I love that album!! That is a show I always wished I had seen. I have a few bootlegs of it as well. Marionette and all staged as a broadway show/revue. Maybe now I will get a chance.

I can't believe that when I was a young man leaping around at Birmingham Town Hall to "Walkin' With a Mountain" back in 1972 that Ian was already 33!
Still some of the best live gigs ever, agree with Rich about the reissue of the live album in it's expanded form - a great place to start if you are not sure about them.
The legendary Fairfield Hall concert which has now been officially released is another killer.
Pity they are not coming to Birmingham again.
Have a good day
Ron
