New Captain Beefheart

Well not really, but it’s the Magic Band doing Beefheart "covers". I just noticed a review (very good) of “Back to the Front” in yesterdays Evening Standard (don’t worry Mathew R, I didn’t buy it, it was left on the train). It seems to be slated for release on July 8, according to AMG. The band seems to be made up of members from different eras, with Drumbo doing the vocals. Looking forward to hearing it.

Saw them at the Shepherds Bush Empire a couple of months ago, and it was terrific. Drumbo does an excellent job on vocals. The group are tight as feck.

I'd love to have seen them live, but sadly the CD is not too hot. Sounds like it was recorded under the influence of a serious tranquiliser...

Even sadder, Robert Williams (who occupied the drum seat whilst Drumbo sang) has decided to leave the group, so it looks like they may not play together again.
