But how can you select files to play from the USB device when there is no front panel display on the DAC?

Just like an iPod shuffle. The tracks are ordered alphabetically and it plays the root directory first then searches each subdirectory and each track within those.

Can you provide me the link for this?

Not sure if they are elsewhere too, but if you search for the Computer Audiophile forum / website the FIM files are the first item on the front page.

Possibly ... but it's free ... and will work to demo/test the high res capability.

Eloise Hi, I thought that the highest res files currently available were 358.2 ? And that you could only play those if you had an ax24 dac (digital audio denmark ) and only then through their own digital workstation?

I don't know for sure - but think in WAV format, these 32/352.8 (44.1 x8) should be playable from USB Memory stick with the Naim DAC.

Eloise hi, does that mean the new ( Naim ) dac will just upsample to that frequency, or can it play native DXD files?

I think so ... if you look at the spec for the DAC it's says:-
Format: Audio files supported: USB = WAV (LPCM up to 768kHz / 32bit)
Which I think means that it will play WAV files upto 32bit and 768kHz from a memory stick.
Not 100% sure but it's on my list of DACs to audition when I get my new system (soon).

They'll all look the same at the dig out regardless of how they're stored so you're good.
