Naim not sold in USA ?

Posted by: Paul on 22 November 2003

Has anyone read the 2004 Stereophile Buyer's Guide ? It claims the following....
"......you'll find listings of every audio component currently available in the US (other than boomboxes and other portable players), along with their specifications and prices. It also includes what we feel is the most complete listing of audio manufacturer websites on the planet"

SO WHY IS NAIM NOT LISTED IN THIS GUIDE ?

Does anyone have any inside information on little green men selling boomboxes from the planet NAIM ?

Oops!

Perhaps that little omission speaks volumes about the quality and reliability of Stereophile's Buyer's Guide?

Cheers,

Rich.

With the directory issues of all genres of magazines, the publisher sends the forms to be filled in (hard copy paper in the old days, spread sheets electronically these days) to the manufacturers and distributors. It's up to them to fill the sheets in appropriately and return them by the cut-off date. The Naim importer obviously decided he didn't want to "play", or was late returning the forms and missed the bus. Naim exhibited at the last Stereophile show in San Francisco, so you can rest assured that the folks at Naim in the U.S. and the Stereophile editorial staff know each other well. Conspiracy theories about a Naim boycott should be dismissed wholesale. I would direct the question to Naim top management.

Naim is a well kept secret in the U.S., and I guess it is Naim that is keeping it that way.

Greetings,

The link to the excellent e-zine, Positive Feedback, sheds some real interesting light on Stereo-pile. Eloquently penned by former staff writer, Chip Stern, it makes for an intersting 10 minute window into the present day issues confronting this publication.

Cheers,
ian

Athough I am a fond reader of Stereophile...I do not think it is appropriate to claim listings for "every audio component" when they know that some of the best have not been included....and so much for the most complete listing of audio web-sites !!! They can search google for "Naim Audio" just as easily as I can. So if they knew Naim had not responded, they could have at least included their web site address (US and UK)

An interesting note here is that the CD5 and Nait 5 are both in the October issue: Stereophile's Recommended Components. Go figure

No more conspiracy theories please. NANA did receive the spreadsheets from the new guide very shortly before their deadline. They were completed and sent in.... but apparently not in time for them to publish.

Naim is sold in the USA from about 30 dealerships, and you can find our dealer list at www.naimusa.com
