why is that? Have you tried using one of those decks? They allow you to do things that are impossible with vinyl, and there is very little that you can't do that you can do with vinyl. Add to that the convenience of not haveing to carry loads of heavy records about - being able to quickly burn new mixes, duplicate copies, loads of tracks onto one small light CD ... and I can't really see what your problem is.
I know 'audiophiles' say that vinyl sounds better ... but I doubt that is true of most club vinly set-ups.

Don't worry. Heard it all before. If vinyl was going to die, it would have done so in the 90's.

And who exactly is going to listen to Eric Morillo on CD, vinyl or whatever?

I think it could effect vinyl production if it kicked off. Ultimate quality in the club set up is not an issue and if that devise does what they are saying then vinyl could be in a difficualt position.
The up side is of course vinyl is so much nicer too own, and it may be this that keeps it all alive.
Who knows though eh?

Anyway there's still a market for audiophool pressings. 180g vinyl at £20 a pop. Easy money. DJs aren't the only market.
No DJ's arn't the only market, but ask yourself whether Vinyl would have survived without the Dance/DJ market in the last 10 years, I'm not so sure.
Vinyl sales of Rock/Pop/Indie etc over the past 10 years is proably not enough to support the pressing plants and infrastructure required for vinyl.
If this thing does take off then it's possible that all dance might go CD, if that happens I can't see vinyl lasting more than a couple of years!

From what I've gathered from the hip hop boards I go on, this sort of thing is fine for house DJs, but falls short for turntablists. Given the huge global market for hip hop vinyl, I wouldn't sweat just yet.
IMO, you could replace 99% of house DJs with a beatmatching plugin for Winamp anyway.

Quote my DV Newphew---
Yeah I have played on one of these pioneer CD decks before, to be honest with you I could not get used to them at all. In my opinion the sound with the CD decks almost sounds as if you have covered the speaker with a towel.
Also I cant get away from the fact that its allot easier to scratch on these CD decks because you are not actually handling the CD unlike vinyl in which you have to be on the ball with cueing the track and feeling the rythm.
Not for me.
Long live vinyl!! Give me a 12" anyday. + Just imagine all the wicked tunes which you cant get on CD but you can get on vinyl
