Tapas

Posted by: Duncan Fullerton on 17 March 2005

A friend has asked me to cook for her upcoming 40th birthday party and she fancies lots of Tapas. The trouble is I have no idea how many dishes/pieces to make for her. She is planning on forty guests - all girls! - and I want to make sure I do enought food ... but if I'm not careful I'll end up making enough for eighty.

Any ideas on quantities of dishes and/or pieces?

Thanks,

Duncan

I've just enjoyed a paddys day brekkie (first) of Marmite on corn bread toast covered with 3 fried heggs done in kerrygold, four aspirins and a bottle of fizz & OJ.

Fritz Von I witnessed to my horror a neighbours cat opposite falling from a fourth floor balcony yesterday, it was slow motion and she landed on all fours, her owner soon got her, and she's now fine (amazing really) don't try this at home folks : PS have a great Tapas party, you'll do fine (wish I was going too ) don't forget the ladies (generally will talk about their figures, and scoff (in their own company) like there is no tommorow, innit. Girlie food, eh?! Roll Eyes
I can't bear Tapas, especially in a restaurant; far too fussy & slow.
Being girls, they will want to try everything, so you need to allow for 50 of each dish, as some will have another. But you don't want any waste, so do just 4 dishes. That allows 5 dishes per person. If you think you need more, do an additional 40 of something else, but I shouldn't think it necessary.
Try and find out the ratio of veggies, as you may find there is a run on it that you haven't expected.
Put 5 or 6 saucers in front of you and load up each one to get an idea of how much you would expect for a meal, and that is your portion size. (Is it a meal, or just nibbles? Find out).
