Loot ad - looks promising?

Saw this ad on Loot today - by the description this could be a Armaggeddon?
"Phono Stage, Naim, based for moving coil, cartridge, looks like hi cap and connects with
SNAIC leads, Price: £75 ."
Or is this likely to be something like a Headline?
Either way it appears a cheap buy!

note the important words *Naim based*

Sounds strange the owner doesn't know what it is!!

it says, "Naim, based on MC" rather than "Naim based".
It sounds like a Naim item, just not clear which one, I think I'll ring and find out when the contact details are available...

quote:
it says, "Naim, based on MC" rather than "Naim based".
actually it says
"Naim, based for moving coil, cartridge"
which minus superfluous punctuation says:
"Naim based for moving coil cartridge"
otherwise it doesn't make sense.

How about it's a typo for 'biased'?
Mind you, I'm not sure that makes much more sense!
Steve.

Maybe someone just mounted a set of 323 MC cards in a HiCap box?
A Stageline does not look very much like a HiCap (unless it's the Tryptych style one).

Steve,
If you need a phono stage for that kind of money, you can put one together yourself...
I needed a phono stage to connect a second deck to my computer sound card and put my naim based one together for about £60. The photos should be self explanatory.... The cards I got from a naim dealer for £35.
The PS is regulated 24v and then taken to the 'stage where each channel is individually regulated down to 21v. Leaving the regulation out makes things a lot simpler of course...
I make no great claims for it... I had a role that needed filling and like tinkering.......
I've not compared it directly to anything else, but it works, it's silent and sounds pretty damn good to me..... Best of luck with whatever path you follow...
