Basic Computer Security:
Posted by: Berlin Fritz on 09 December 2006
Chaps! I was just in the process of making up a nice old list of thingys on a word file for the impending visit of the Court Adjudicator re my ongoing private insolvency case. He/she must be informed of all parties I have contractual dealings with, ie, phone, bank, electricity, job centre, house owners, etc, etc. I'd hand-written them all up, along with code numbers, accounts, names, addresses, etc, etc, and was about to start building up a file. It suddenly occurred to my tiny mind that although I was offline, and that after I'd printed a couple of copies off and deleted it all from this computer it could well all still be retrieved by a budding hacker. I use two computers generally one online & one totally offline
and one up to date virus free. Obviously I've now done it all on the offline jobby, though
twas more of a pain as it's only got a 15" monitor compared to this 19" one. I know this is all purely academic and for many of you standard basic practice, and shredding physical documents etc, etc, is the norm. I personally readily assume that all of my e-mail and online imput etc is recorded or read (no this is not paranoia Chaps) so I see no good reason to make it even easier for prospective crooks (or spooks) they can easily find things out anyway, but that doesn't mean I have to consciously
help them in their job-creating (often tax-swallowing) tasks now does it? Online banking is
absolute MADNESS in my view, as is EBAY etc, a villain's dream come true. Anti viruses and
firewalls etc, I personally think are a scam in themselves too, and just play on people's basic
laziness & stupidity in general.
Regards,
Fritz Von Put your hand on this red hotplate Dear!
Will it burn?
Of course not love, trust me, I'm qualified!*

Chivas Regal is one good example of a blended far Superior to cheap shite Malt's like Glenfiddich for instance, amazingly enough reccommneded by so-called experts on this forum earlier today?

What I found interesting during that recent BBC interview (in contrast to KIWI broadcasts years old) was Sir Richard's love and inspiration derived from Freddie Laker's entrpeneurial efforts (founder of Cheap flights enjoyed by many Britons). Sir Freddie was finally done in by the good old British Airways unfair playing (ie, Govt subsidised as it now is too) field dirty tactics, and is now also probably Bransons biggest enemy (not rival) as well, due to it's continuous lick-spittle love affair with number 10 (wether it be Thatcher or Blair). Who remembers Maggie's wrath at the removal of the tailfin BA flag (crosses?) then on all those er, Yankee built 747's?
Fritz Von Branson has recently lost out on the ITV deal to (most likely to the Dirty Digger, who's British right hand man is no oher than er, Anthony Wedgewood Blair himself, surprise surprise).

Ok. Something I'm beginning to notice a lot.
Someone posts a question and then you get 20 or so posts, from different people, repeating the same advice in slightly different ways. Very rarely do they reference anyone else's contribution.
So how come?
Are we too lazy?
Do we just want to say something, don't care what it is?
Are we trying to get to the magic 1000 posts and this appears the easiest and path of least resistance?
Do you not read the replies and only the original question?
Come on what is it?
Or is it just me?
No points for the smart arse that repeats the first reply. I'm well ahead of ya![]()

Japan has been importing tanker loadsfull of Scottish water and base whisky to be brended over there for some Decades now (as mentioned more than once by moir on here in the past). China is now also getting the taste for the stuff and will soon be pushing things to the limit. As with Australian state of the art wine making methods which will soon be working in Southern England too (irrespective of weather).

So obviously 50 is the new 25 ! when wanting to buy a bottle of single Malt Whisky for Christmas guests then? I've just enjoyed listening to the second of a three part WS series regarding ladies going to New York (Now, this month) from Europe to do their Christmas shopping as it's so very cheap there due to a strong uro at present against the Yankee Dollar. Last week it was the girls from Dublin (Bloody funny it was too) and this week Dutch & French, with German Ladies on next week.
Fritz Von It makes you wonder why they go there really dunnit, what with American goods being so expensive and all?
You'd think the BBC got it wrong wouldn't you?
P.S. Nice to see all the cowboy builders (disguised as Professionals) suddenly and caringly arriving in Norf London Tornado territory then! (the mind truly boggles at their neck). When one considers that over 400 people+ have been contaminated in the UK recently with KJD tainted blood via the NHS, I'm slightly concerned at the credibility of these test results regarding Polonium that are positively coming up all over the place left right & centre (slightly exaggerated possibly at the expense of people's peace of mind, What?)
It will hopefully all come out soon, Home Office fuck up, don't worry Chaps, got the wrong litmus paper:
Reid's in Charge!
Think of the taxpayers bill from all those private firms conducting these fast-track polonium tests then*
Police Forensic labs are mainly er, Private today too, makes yer wonder really dunnit?*
There again so's er, Security*

You know there's quite a few Doctors, firemen, nurses, social workers, coppers even, out there who've never taken to the bottle or use religion either to cope with the regular stresses & strains that pertain to their partícular professions, that the average Mick in the street never experiences or sees, let alone has a Scoobie Doo about in the real world, innit!
Fritz Von Is this bad publicity for God though?
P.S. Talking of God! When Dr John Boy Reid was (Oh Fuck not health) Secretary about 5 minutes ago, it was very well reported that he totally disregarded a large petition of over 100,000+ signatures regarding a change to PFI funding of hospitals etc, across the country, as most of the dosh (over a non negotiable 30 year period, as all PFI er, deals are) went to the private contractors (very few now! & who always get the jobs) investors of who'm come from both major party's, hence the silence from Our Micks chums (originally a Tory idea by the way). This petition was put to one side and totally ignored, yet now Number 10 is promoting so-called online petitions, which in essence is a good thing in my opinion (if independently? controlled & policed) but it isn't, so it's not worth the click it's clicked upon really issit, even though you may feel like you've done something, actually demonstrating in the street (not Westmintser naturally, Christmas threat innit) and handing over hard worked for signed petitions is what it's all about I feel.*
N.B. I only quote PE for instance when I actually take it from there, do we Ken Chaps?
I care not, really!

Where exactly is Northampton anyway?
I think one could describe the single malt thread (as with many others in the past too) as somebody asking a straight question, and nobody attempting to answer it properly in the slightest degree whatso'ever! This is of no consequence being a mere virtual space, though I do wonder how folk get by in the real world when posed a question or indeed themselves wishing to ask one themselves, and being answered with "Yes! I used to play Cricket"
Straight between the eyes
of course I was getting used to it by then
