Basic Computer Security:

Posted by: Berlin Fritz on 09 December 2006

Chaps! I was just in the process of making up a nice old list of thingys on a word file for the impending visit of the Court Adjudicator re my ongoing private insolvency case. He/she must be informed of all parties I have contractual dealings with, ie, phone, bank, electricity, job centre, house owners, etc, etc. I'd hand-written them all up, along with code numbers, accounts, names, addresses, etc, etc, and was about to start building up a file. It suddenly occurred to my tiny mind that although I was offline, and that after I'd printed a couple of copies off and deleted it all from this computer it could well all still be retrieved by a budding hacker. I use two computers generally one online & one totally offline
and one up to date virus free. Obviously I've now done it all on the offline jobby, though
twas more of a pain as it's only got a 15" monitor compared to this 19" one. I know this is all purely academic and for many of you standard basic practice, and shredding physical documents etc, etc, is the norm. I personally readily assume that all of my e-mail and online imput etc is recorded or read (no this is not paranoia Chaps) so I see no good reason to make it even easier for prospective crooks (or spooks) they can easily find things out anyway, but that doesn't mean I have to consciously
help them in their job-creating (often tax-swallowing) tasks now does it? Online banking is
absolute MADNESS in my view, as is EBAY etc, a villain's dream come true. Anti viruses and
firewalls etc, I personally think are a scam in themselves too, and just play on people's basic
laziness & stupidity in general.

Regards,

Fritz Von Put your hand on this red hotplate Dear!

Will it burn?

Of course not love, trust me, I'm qualified!*

Had a most enjoyable phone conversation earlier with an old pal of mine; and we after the usual annual niceties, got onto the subject of our weight and general fitness (both kinds). I told him that basically I am at present a personal disaster area and a good 15kgs over what I should be, not to mention imbibing in the dreaded weed every time I go daan der auld boozer. He, although some 5 years older than I (and still a serving soldier) is some 25kg heavier than me, weighing in at a cool 132Kg against my own meagre 104kg (give or take a sandwich). I am 1.82 tall, and he's about 1.94+ with muscle to-boot, so I can give him a bit of leeway I suppose, innit. 90kg (which I was some 18 months back, with daily jogging) will/must be my goal again, and I nearly choked on my Bud when I suggested to him that he should go for 110Kg (ish), and he replied, "I'd look like a Goddam spook if I got down that low Boy, besides I've still Gotta kick Ass around here"

Fritz Von Doesn't time fly Chaps, innit*

Nice Card from er, New Zealand today of all bloody places (sent on 3rd Nov 1927) from my Great Grandfather*

P.P.S. Also got a nice present from the TV licence people who've surprisingly given me a free one for the next 4 months, but reckon I owe them 85 for the last 6 months (first mention of it?) strangely & coincidentally enough because of my newly imposed court case, any debts incurred before 04.12.06. (totally unknown to me, honnist) can't/mustn't be paid, upon a Judges order, wow! I feel nearly as posh & important as the Farcepak Bank people.*

N.B. British Nationals (as can Germans, etc too) who leave Europe may may claim their fully paid in pension contrubutions to-date (after two calender years) in the new country (as a lump one-off payment sum)!

So Fredders me Old Son! 2 years on a accommodation platform in Norway's Ekofisk field washing the dishes, etc (you'd get a job no sweat, Our Mick'll sort it out) tax free, circa 350 a day plus regular free flights and board & lodgings all in, claim yer UK pension after 2 years, then pop over to Poland (the language of which you'd be learning offshore in-between, innit*)

There again you can remain in Woucester, getting pissed and dreamin, dreamin, dreamin*

Yeah! Old Ipswich Jack's havin a bloody field day allright the Crazy Fuckin Bastard(s), two more bodies just found bringing it now to a total of five young women within two weeks, compared to others in the past over many years!

Fritz Von Reid's in Charge, so that's reassuring then, innit Chaps!*

Better than Blunkett I suppose, though I'd even wish for Merlyn Reece or Howard at this juncture in time (this specific case only you understand as they knew what they were doing at least, unlike this 'highly unfunny' clown at present), and although Our Jack will be the next PM, even he wasn't a brilliant HS! FS Yes; but HS, lacking I felt**

Your post above is indeed noted. I am a qualified washer-upper too! The reality is that whatever happens, Worcester is no option! None at all, absolutely none at all...

Of course Norway is non-EU, so if it were possible to release my Pension after two years I really would be set-up to make things work after that! Getting into a private personal pension (instead of buying a flat, which was an option at the time, though it would have been a big risk - pre the '87 price fall - and bloody tough in terms of the money) back in '86 was the worst decision I have ever taken. I thought it was right at the time, but...

You are teetering on the age-limit Our Fredders, and you must be able to pass the medical (and safety training)(not sure about smoking on quarter platforms though, I think it's a grey area?). The money is best put in a low interest safe (State Saving-scheme) Euro Bonds in Norway possibly! and as far away from fully qualified er, IFA's and Britain as is possible, and when/if you ever land in Poland (not to be mentioned up front!) you will have to join a scheme there anyway*

Regards,

Fritz Von fluent English is your main qualification by the way*

N.B. If you mention that you want to go to Poland eventually, the British (Newcastle) will not pay up, I speak from experience in getting my ex-NI contributions from the UK credited here on top of my German Pension stuff, it took years, and without the German Authorities finally getting tough on my behalf (it's in their interests) I would have got nothing, and from the 6 years that I proved NI payments, two & a bit were lost, in other words the twats at Newcastle were prize Tossers, are prize Tossers, and will always be prize Tossers³

As for age, now that is a [horrible] thought.

Of course, as in all things in life, sometimes it is necessary to play the cards close to the chest...

Also, on smoking I started at 35, and on my 45th. birthday party I joined a pact of three of us to give up, which all to the good I would think.

Now I must get onto my Aunt in Norway about what to do about investigating what can be done.

I expect you can tell that I am more or less paralised by the situation actually. It is not funny. The UK system is not devised to help the little [especially single, even if this was dictated by caution] man at all, so it is necessary to find the chinks in it, to make a good headway, given that getting along is not just getting more difficult in UK, but just tipping into the impossible, unless I am prepared to beg for Tax Credits and so forth, which I am absolutely not. Maybe that makes me stupidly proud, but there it is. I accept that, if that was ever made as an accusation. I would always rather paddle my own canoe than get UK plc [Joe public's tax take] to bail out my employers by subsidizing my pathetic wage here. In 1994 I was on £5:00 an hour, which has risen to £5:50 now, and only one change of employer. It is bloody useless! As I say, there is no future for me in UK, in Worcester or anywhere else.

Thanks for the thoughts. I am thinking very hard about how to make this all work. I had a medical a couple of months ago, and on the respiration test, apparently I am good for my age. Lungs of a 35 year old on a then 44 year old, and nothing else to show, including Blood Pressure, which is once again normal. So there is a possibility.

Thinking outside the box is hard to do, and I am glad of any suggestion that can help.

Thanks from Fredrik

Firstly I think it's important to remind folk who continually insist on mentioning fine Scottish whiskies on a thread entitled Scotch are simply taking the piss out of themselves bigstyle. This is not a question of snobbery, it's a question of basic respect for the product in hand, and I repeat, I cannot believe for one minute that any member of this ere forum whilst visiting (or indeed living in Scotland) has 'ever' in their whole life ordered a 'scotch' in a Scottish hostiliery.

Still on the question of questions, SKY NEWS in it's great wisdom has just decided to skip showing PMQ's live (much to Blair's advantage) and continue to speculate and fantasise (non stop with endless repetition) over why a nutter is killing Prostitutes in South Eastern England? It has been reported many many times too in the last few hours that number 10 has been on to the Chief Constable of Suffolk to ensure he has all he requires for the job (Smell Reid do we Chaps?)(such public statements are very unusual).

Fritz Von Fortunately I've just watched PMQ's live for the very first time online, on BBC Parliament (excellent quality without some moron continually interrupting and making stupid bloody comments, as is with SKY) or indeed cutting it out mid flow, due to a totally mundane issue somewhere else)*

Well Done BBC (as a proud current licence holder), SKY will be purely for Sport now, when they decide to actually show it that is*

Murdoch's truly treading on his own toes I feel* (at long bloody last).

What a bunch, really! no wonder the likes of Our Mick are starting British (English) Ghettos on the Costa del Boy (at least the kids will learn Spanish if nothing else, let's face it it's not exactly the most demanding language on earth to learn now is it Chaps).

Not to mention a misspelt JW Blue Label thread, just all smells of money & boasting to me, nothing to do with whisky whatso'ever*

I think it was the Torygraph that said this week that Suffolk police are the least capable force in the country to deal with a major incident. Why are they not immediately bringing in assistance from the forces that caught the Yorkshire Ripper & Ian Huntley? I would have thought that would be the first thing they would do. This is another cock-up (pun unintended).
It'll be the usual suspect: known sex offender/murderer released back into the community 3 months ago.

A Lord of the Realm even?

Fritz Von More seriously though, Suffolk is the smallest force in the UK, and has now got serious professional help from it's neighbours. The cases you mentioned above took many many years and many months to conclude and I would suggest that every case is different. The speculative bullshit emerging continuously as we speak from the world breaking news channel of the year does nobody any favours in it's witchhunt (Huntly: has been shown often on tv of late WHY?), as well as with all due respect old Son, your own pre-emtive judgemental suppositions in a similar vein (Padded Cell Norm). The News of the Screws has got lots of publicity now for offering £250,000 for info, a rag that has become rich upon the lives of whores, druggies, McCartney breakups, etc, etc, etc.

The tastlessness of how the whole affair is being er, 'managed' is ridiculous, and the real question as with Mr Toy*s Schools 'Jokette' is how these services (Police, forensics, etc) are actually being funded, and the ever blindness to PFI reality that's privatizing and breaking down the very fabric of British Established Law & Order (which should be run by the State! and not by fucking Private greedy untrained moronic idiots as is now more often than not the case)

HOW OFTEN DOES IT HAVE TO BE SAID?
