SWMBO possibly getting territorial

Posted by: Dungassin on 09 July 2010

The CB/Olive system in the living room has recently gone back to Naim for servicing. So ...

I moved the SBLs, non-Naim equipment and Sound Factory Tripod stands out of there temporarily.

Trouble is, SWMBO has suddenly noticed how much extra space is now available and has started making noises like "do we really have to have all that stuff back in the living room?", "are you SURE you can't fit it in your study?". (it won't, BTW, and the suspended wooden floor in their would play havoc with the LP12)

Looks like I'll have to do a bit of persuading ... aaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!

Good god man!!

Shoot her.

And get a new one if you must.

I think I'll make her a counter-offer. I'll let her have my study for her TV soaps/reality TV etc, and I'll have the living room.

Yes ... I'm sure she'll go for that ... NOT.

Seriously, I'll get my own way in the end - I always do. Winker

Mrs R didn't like the black boxes very much so I suggested that if we put them in some nice furniture they'd look better. We had a look and I pointed out some Apollo steel frame stands and she hated them and said "Why don't you buy something like that?", "OK" I said reluctantly and so now all my kit has to be concealed on something called a Fraim - I told her it was a bit pricey, but she insisted so I gave in. The only thing she didn't care for were some empty shelves so I've been finding things to put in them - latest one is called a DAC and she likes the way it matches my other kit. I think it pays to keep everybody in the household happy.

SWMBO likes the way the system sounds, but hates the amount of room it takes up. The same thing happened the last time I dismantled it to clear out the dead spiders etc from behind it. Don't worry, it'll all blow over as soon as my stuff comes back from Naim. Cool

Just tell her that you will match the space taken up by her shoes!

What ever you do don't give in. If my partner said that I would just laugh and remind her where her mum lives. Put the gear back and turn the volume up so you can't hear the nagging. With a bit of luck she wont know how to turn the volume down. We must never give in to this sort of stupidty from the ladies. Women know your place.

I would suggest that you mention that Golf might be a nice alternative hobby!!!!

If she wants you at home you win.

However if she wants you out the house you lose.

Joking aside this sort of thing must be stopped. Our lounge is full of Naim gear a 60inch plasma four big speakers. My partner knows the pleasure this stuff gives me and she would never ask me to change to small stuff to make room. If they really care for us all this is not an issue, there fore if it is an issue it means they don't care about our needs. If that is the case trade SWMBO in and get a model who cares. Consider it an upgrade process and it will be fun also getting a demo of different models.

O yes she has and thought my comments are funny. I consider my partner to be a 500 series type. I doubt I could change her for better.

Mind you this reminds me of my house when there was just me here, i had pictures of shooting and country scenes hanging on the wall [being from an agricultural background]then the mrs moved in and they are all packed away and we have multicultural paintings, flowery curtains and flowers on the hearth everything was changed, it was a traumatic time for me i can tell you. But on the understanding that she had no say in the HiFi or tv which was always going to be my decision i accepted the changes Big Grin

I know what you mean, the house is full of teddy bears and the sky plus hard drive is jam packed with girlie stuff like dinner ladies and loose women. A small price to pay as give and take works both ways.

Now one small point if it were not for sex would we consider them a food species? That is a diffrent thread and I don't want to highjack this one.

I feel the same way about mine. After all, we have been married now for 38 years. Smile

Had a little chat with her earlier today. Now patently obvious that she's just winding me up. Can't think where she gets that habit from ... Winker

What the heck did you do that for ? That's just like the protection forces leaving the Falklands for a well earned vacation.

Before you know it someone's gone and swapped the "Falklands" sign for "Malvinas".

Bad tactical error !

Well, it was just going to be while I cleaned up the dust "bunnies", dead spiders, toddler toys etc etc, but SWMBO decided they could stay out of their until they HAD to go back. Also, I think I'm going to get a couple of extra power sockets installed there while it's "getatable" (I have 8 there already, but another 4 would be nice) Smile

Be very careful. It may be a ploy to relieve you of some other toy.

The old “OK you can keep the Naim boxes but can we get rid of xxxx”

I'm very familiar with that one. Should she try it, I've got a few suggestions of my own re. her possessions. Winker

Just been rethinking this. I've added up the boxes, and 12 sockets would leave me with one free, so I think I'll take it to 16 sockets for possible future additons.

Remember to think about how you're going to have it done .

Are they going to be in series with a single ground ?

The current set of sockets are on their own spur, so I assume they probably are as you describe. I'm not an electrician, so I'd ask my usual very reliably chappie what to do. Unless you know better?

You are going a bit over the top imo.

Nope. I just HATE those multiple trailer sockets. The only time I willingly use trailers is if I have need to power (short term) something a long way from the nearest socket - e.g. the hedge trimmer.
