Which Digital Camera_Ricoh R6?

This week I am after a new digital camera. My needs are to be small and fit in my pocket or shirt pocket, so really ultra compact.
I would like a 7-10 mega pixel high quality lens. It will be mainly used for holidays and general use, budget around £200.
My homework so far is betwen the Ricoh R6 and the new pentax A30.

A combination of auto and manual would be ideal, although it seems most of the these cameras are near on all auto. This is not so much a problem but it would be nice to have some manual over rides.

Best I have seen so far are the Ricoh R6 and Pentax A30. I also like the Panasonic Lumix series and the fuiji series. These look good in low light which would also suit. Any comments please.

The Ricoh Caplio R6 is one I've had an eye on as "the good lady" wants a new camera.

Apparently the Face Detection is pretty useless, and picture quality suffers from noise if you set ISO above 200, but neither of these troubles me.

The one area of concern is that it does suffer from chromatic aberration in high contrast scenarios - a lilac/purple colour fringe... however it's all down to context.

Herself like the idea of the long optical zoom so that she can get action shots of the cars at goodwood... but the camera will always be used for snapshots, any "serious" shots will be on one of our SLRs...

Hence the colour fringing doesn't really concern either of us, and certainly won't be a problem with the comparatively small number of shots that may suffer this and actually end up getting printed.

If I was bothered by it, and she'd accept a smaller zoom, the a Pana Lumix would be 2nd on the list, but I think we're gonna go for the Ricoh.

Here's a good review... with good sample pics from the camera: Caplio R6 at Trusted reviews
