Glasgow Record Shops

Posted by: Not For Me on 05 September 2003

I am going to Glasgow with an opportunity for a bit of a record shop.

Does anyone have recommendations for record shops with good stocks of vinyl, second hand and also new post-rock or modern dance stuff?

You know the sort I stuff I buy...

TIA

I was there on Monday as it happens, and there's loads of quite good shops. A good one is called Avalanche I think - I am sure it can be found on the internet. On Union Street, 50 metres down from HMV, there is a really cheap and quite large shop called Fopp (I think), which has a good selection of cheap CDs and a bit of Vinyl.

If you are planning to travel within Glasgow, it's not too big a city, then you should take the Underground to Byres Road in the West End. There you will find a few decent record shops - be sure to check out De Courcy's Arcade for second hand.

Don't worry about getting lost - just ask anyone, we're only too pleased to point the way !
