Smithsonian Folkways Dusts Off Titles With New Technology

I have heard about this store of historical music mentioned a few times on the radio and have just finished reading these two links.

Smithsonian Folkways Dusts Off Titles With New Technology NYT, needs registration.

I know the registration is a bit of a bummer but the NYT often have things worth reading and you only need to do the deed once.

Smithsonian Folkways

The success of the “burn to order” service shows how a sound business model with an eye to giving the customer exactly what they want can still managing to make a profit.

I think the Folkways catalogue may well keep my credit card twitching for quite some time.

Has anyone used this service?

...the Folkways catalog is outstanding. Highly recommended.

They had a sampler collection of 3 or 4 CDs out for some time; perhaps a potential customer should listen to that first before anything else.

Cheers

Keith.
