Help with iPod Nano
Posted by: Nuno Baptista on 13 March 2006
OK my friends, the shop swap my Mini for a new Nano,as the battery of mini was faulty. But with the Nano appears on the screen :
Disk mode
OK to disconnect
I eject the iPod on iTunes and appears the same message:
Disk mode
OK to disconnect
And doesn´t appear the menu! What can be the problem?Or how can I fix it?It seems to me the problem is related with the message: disk mode

I think this might be it. Go into iTunes and into iPod preferences. There will be something in their about using your Nano as a disk (hence disk mode). Un-tick the box and disconnect as you've been doing. See if that works...

Funny old world isn't it:
"My PC came with Windows but it didn't function properly until I downloaded a new version of the software. Typical Microsoft rubbish"
"My ipod came with itunes but it didn't function properly until I downloaded a new version of the software. Now it's fine. I'm so impressed I'm going to change my PC to Apple"
I wonder how long before we see an xpod?

Yes I agree a very good reason to upgrade to a Mac - I've always found Microsoft products and support to be rubbish. I've nothing against Intel PCs as long as you replace Windoze with a decent operating system like this one here.
Nuno if you upgrade to a Mac you'll never regret it - it is very very good computer; however, make sure Apple support is available in Portugal, as you need decent support with any computer system.

There is enought support here, but at the moment I´ve got a Windows system.Even the mini mac could be a smart move!

What is the better way to update the iPod?
Mannually or automatically?

It makes no difference. If you have the iPod capacity to hold a complete replica of your iTunes library, then set it for an auto update from the full library. If you have more music in iTunes than your little beast can hold you have to create a playlist in iTunes for it to update from. It makes no difference if this is done on auto or manual, except that if it's auto, you wont have to worry about forgetting to do it.
