I just bought the Samsung 40" LCD and like it as well. But I don't have very high standards for TVs.
It only cost a grand US here at Best Buy so it was a pretty easy choice.

Have a look at the magazines to see what they recommend. One thing worth being aware of is that many people simply buy the biggest screen that their budget will allow for. This is a mistake on two counts. Firstly, bigger does not always equal better. Many smaller screens out-perform larger ones significantly. Secondly, there is an optimum size of TV for your viewing distance from it. Too big will result in picture flaws being very evident. Chart is available online if you do a search.

I have a Sony KDL40W4500 which has superb picture IMHO. Only weak point is the tuner, or possibly it's the signal as I only have a loft aerial. Does not really bother me as I watch everything thru Virgin V+ box which gives a superb upscaled picture.
You may even get a good deal on this model as I think it has just been discontinued.

remember when all the stop lights were changed to LEDs and now I'm seeing some of them with some lights out in the circle. I thought LCD would be the way to go if I were to buy with them being used in computer monitors, but I"m waiting for the next faster refresh rates to come out. I'm looking at the Samsung as well, with their DVD player.
I get so confused with the numbers as it's all new to me, and paper ads are one number and box stores another. I have a friend much more tech savvy so I'll be taking him along. for now I"ll keep the 12 year old 21". Oh so last century!

Well he has bought the Samsung Led series 6 for a fantastic price of £1099. The only down side is tv sound is a little bit of a let down.
I now start the hunt myself due to my Sony falling of my stand and the insurance company not willing to play ball with the settlement figure.
I am thinking about the same tv tbh the picture in particular with blacks is simply stunning. I would go for a 46" version though.
I have spoken with a local dealer who has deals on loewe however they are a little pricey for what you get.
