Slightly unorthodox version of 'Classical Gas' played brilliantly by Tommy Emmanuel
Here he is giving a master class (Pay attention Mick)

Wow! - Thanks acad. That is bloody astonishing.
Do you know if it's available on CD or DVD?
John.

John,
I dont know much about him (I only 'discovered' him last night while searching for the California Guitar Trio version of Classical Gas on Youtube - sadly there is no film of them performing it but I think it is the best version I have heard)but I did some research on him and it seems he is widely considered to be something of a genius - he is indeed 'bloody astonishing'.
Amazon has several CDs of his, at least one of which contains Classical Gas and 1 DVD of a recent concert.

Thanks Acad;
I've done some investigation myself, and established that 'Classical Gas' is on the 'Live at Sheldon Concert Hall' DVD, but of course I want THAT version from You Tube.
To that end, I've e-mailed the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour Show, to ask if it's available from them.
I'll keep you posted.

John,
I recommend the California Guitar Trio version - they play as one to an uncanny level. Its like one man with 30 digits playing an 18 string guitar. Each guitar is tuned differently and the range they achieve is amazing. I first heard it by downloading it from LimeWire. Youtube has their version of Bohemian Rhapsody which is worth a listen but their version of Bach's Toccata and Fugue is even better.
Acad
By the way there are 3 versions of Classical Gas by Tommy Emmanuael on youtube all slightly different.

I saw Tommy performing this piece as an opener last Friday in Windsor. I've seen him live about 4 or 5 times now and he never fails to disappoint.

"Never fails to disappoint" ... not exactly the most resounding endorsement, is it?

Ian,
Why do you attend his perfomances if they disappoint so consistantly? Just curious.

Whoops! - I had written quite a bit, but had edited it down and pushed the go button before finishing. I originally wrote that he never fails to impress, and added that he never disappoints. the two contracted the wrong way.
What I meant to say was that he never disappoints.
If you're reading this Tommy - sorry!
