The Nice

Here is some news for the oldies amongst us, Keith Emerson and The Nice are playing at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Details are here
I went to see Keith and the Nice earlier this year at a special press event at the 100 Club in London, invite only. Was a very special evening for me, being a massive Emo fan, and the raw energy of The Nice was very present. Amazing, considering their combined age must be nearing 200

I would have thought that KC without Fripp was a bit like watching the Hendrix Experience without Jimi...

As you have probably already noticed the band are not billed as King Crimson but will probably play selections from early material to which they contributed. To my mind a more interesting prospect is a live airing of previous and later projects particularly the material from the "Mcdonald and Giles" album which I have enjoyed for many years.

As a newbie, I have only just discovered this snippet about The Nice. Do you know if they are doing any other gigs?
The vinyl "Five Bridges" has never been far out of my top 20 but I feel I may be in the minority here. Just love that bass on "Country Pie"
Sad but true - I still have a collection of ELP ticket stubs, programmes, posters etc in the murkier areas of the attic. I stopped seeing ELP live around about 1974(?) when the Moog sprouted wings onstage at Wembley - I had tickets for every show and after the first I sold them and later the albums (pink Island 1st LP excluded).
I'm enjoying catching up on the posts,
Best wishes
Ron

Dunno, this is the only gig i currently know about, if there are others, I'll be their (pun intended).
If you want to know more, try The ELP Digest as a starting off point.
There is also a The Nice mailing list somewhere, but I can never find it.

I picked up a mint first pressing (pink Charisma label) of Elegy today for a couple of quid – I bought it to flog on Ebay, but you never know, I may play it first!
Tony.

[RE: The Nice]
Wolverhampton last night was excellent although it was a "standing only" venue. With the average audience age in their forties to early fifties there will be a few stiff backs and legs this morning.
I won't spoil the surprises in store for other ticket holders with a set-list but the show will appeal to Nice/ELP fans old and new.
Worth every penny and I hope someone records a set.
