I purchased the Dynaudio Contour 1.3 MK II. Questions for Frank Abela and Others re Setup.

Frank-

I hope you will read this as well as others familiar with the setup of these speakers.

1) How far from the wall should the speakers be placed, measured from the back of the speaker?

O have a good deal of free space (into the room free space) to play with.

2) How far apart? My room is 12 feet wide. Frank, in someother posts you said about 6 feet. Would that apply here as well?

3) I have the new Dynaudio Stand2 stands. Should I use Blue Tack or use the top plate spikes?

4) Should I fill the stands with sand.

5) I cant seem to figure how the top plate spikes attach to the top plate. There is a spike and a locking nut. Any idea how that might work?

Thanks

Jay

Fill the speaker stands with sand to give the speakers a solid foundation. I have used Blutak on my 1.3se and I loved it since no damage was done to the speaker when I removed it from the stand. In addition, placement is tricky.

David Aiken did a wonderful summary of the 1.3se on www.audioasylum.com

He and many other go into depth on placement. You should keep at least 1-2 feet distance between the speakers and the wall. The distance the speakers are apart depends on what you can afford. Most dynaudio's do not need much toe in either.

Enjoy breaking them in...
