Plasma screen height

Can anybody please advise on the optimum height for a 43 inch plasma screen? it is to be fitted on a chimney breast 59 inches wide with no fire below.

As close to eye level as possible, so say the bottom half of the screen is at eye level. Also watch out for lights behind you though that may reflect off the screen and spoil your viewing.

I'd put it so that eye-level is about a third of the way up from the bottom of the screen. Seems to give the most comfortable angle of the head. If you're wall mounting the screen, some people find this looks a bit low - not from a comfort point of view but from an aesthetic room appearance POV.

I've got my screen sitting on a cabinet which puts thescreen at this height and it works great, comfort wise and appearance.

Hi

We fitted our first plasma 2 years ago with the bottom edge 36" from the floor, as we found that when sitting back in our arm chairs the eyes settled at a height on the wall around 50" from the floor. This worked so well that we used the same height in another room. My friend has recently used the same height and has found it worked for him to. Hope this helps.
Regards Dick.

And once the theory of ciewing distance/height has been worked out, sort out if you can see the screen above your speakers...
My TV (only 32")is housed inside an old chimney place but is 1100 off the floor - enough to see the bottom of the screen from any angle in the room sitting down...
Well actually 980 would suffice, but I had to make allowance for a SL2 if one should happen to arrive. Luckily my B&W's need a bit of room behind them, so I have offered to swap my (pride and joy) speakers for the sake of harmony...
