Wouldn't it be cool if...

1 The CD555 is housed in a NAP500 type of casing
2 The CDX2/XPS2 really does outperform the CDS2/XPS
3 Naim develop their trademark swing-out transport to outperform and replace their top-loading mechanism
4 The new range boogies even more
5 The nA logo replaces the Spendor-clone logo
6 Warm up is shorter
7 A 202/Supercap outperforms a 52/Supercap
8 The CDS3 didn't have that strange stick-on ( wink ) stripe down its back
9 The NAP300 had grooves down the front of the amplifier-unit like a NAP500

I've still yet to determine 2, 4 , 6 and 7

Imho, it'd be really cool if Naim got back to the old, shoebox style and designed a little more powerful Nait 1 or 2, with RC and a matching Naim shoebox style CD-player. (toploading)
or... perhaps a little more realistic:
An 'entry-level' Fraim. For the working-class people who're not swimming in money.
or.... design a more flexible Nac-a5.

O,well. ya can't have it all,eh roll eyes big grin

With the new cases, there is a definite improvement in quality. The classic range now has a beefier look about them.

Hutter can be considered an entry-level support that really matches with the qualities of Naim.

I second (and have suggested before) the proposal that a Naim turntable would be very cool.

Hi Andrew,
Do you mean there's a definite improvement in quality, in sound or looks.
Imho the new (5)series look worse than the old Naim series/cases, and have a kinda cheapisch Rotel-look.
From the first picture I saw in magazines and on the internet I didn't like the looks of the 5-series. When I saw them in real-live next to an 'old' 102,Hicap,180 system, I disliked the new cases even more.

Hmm, I must confess I never heard what a Hutter support can do to a system, but I meant that it would be nice if Naim could make a more affordable version of the Fraim without suffering the looks too much. (don't like the Hutter looks)

I still like the looks of the standard Quadraspire furniture best, but I don't know how it competes with (for example) Hutter.

I already have one of these. Obviously Naim had to outsource the design and construction of some of the component parts like chassis, suspension and bearing....

If you see them in real-life, they look a lot better than in photo. In terms of round buttons, layout and "standard" control knobs I agree there is something a little Rotel about it - however, the heavy triptiche facia and imaculate fit/finish give the components a high degree of class.

It would be even cooler if all Naim gear were half the price!!

Maybe more like Harman Kardon, but that's just if you are beginner. Naim chassis is made of better material and looks more impresive.
But, must say that I don't agree with some who says that older style is better (nicer). I simply hate those pc styled little plastic swithes on my Nait2 and seeing the wall through a component is also not so nice for me.
