The best method is to purchase a tape loop lead, 5 pin din to phono. Then buy a phono to stereo mini jack connector. I know we all like to spend money but for this project I recommend Maplins where the whole lot is availble and will come to a fiver.
Connect to your tape loop in, plug your mini jack onto them two phono leads and stick it in the mic in on your sound card, mac user should use the mic in port.
Start up your application. Switch pre to phono and off you go. You can check sound through the stereo as normal.
Don't go direct from the deck although this is tempting the gain is just not enough and you will find your self gain pushing on the PC to distortion.
