Mana is missing a sure thing if it doesn't make a matching ladder for guys like this.
I don't recall seeing anythng on the Mana website about which type of stand is appropriate for a bong. I guess he got it figured out, though.

WHY??? If that works for him, it is the right thing to do for him. At least you should consider Mana Acoustic seriously since I believe that ALL members in both Naim and Mana forum are educated and know what they want when it comes to music and HiFi. Mana racks work for lot of people (including me and I think the Fraim is very good too).

Reminds me of a guy I used to know that insisted on having 7 sugars in his Tea. Thing is he could always tell if you tried it on & put in 6 or 8...

You know, Mana doesn't start to really sing till you hit phase 12.

I only hope that old Watson has got a good public liability insurance. If that lot toppled over onto anyone, he could get sued for an awful lot of money.

I dont know if thats insane or impressive. It makes music for me!
@Andrew
Nothing of your assumptions are right. Off axis eh? Normal human beeing? Did you know what you're talking about? Have you ever been at a record studio?? Who decided that speaker has to be at ear level to sound right? Thats one of those hifi gimmicks.
Ah and the "..poor bastard that had to help ... lift the speakers up..." is my girlfried. I guess you wouldnt believe how easy that is.
She's nothing to do with hifi but does really know how good it sounds.
The images was taken from a little lower position to avoid distortion of the lens. Even my girlfriend can swap records and she's 1.68m high.
You lost the bet nothing rings.
And you should read your replay again because it seems to me that you are not very happy with your system.

Hermann,
I'm curious.
Isn't there a point, say phase 4 or 7 or whatever where the law of diminishing returns sets in?

Hermann,
That is very impressive. How high are your ceilings? It looks like a tall room.
Do the racks heat up a lot being near the radiators?
Also interesting to see what the grills look like. My briks were second hand and the grills were lost so I hadn't seen them before.
cheers
Gus

Hi Nick for some reason I got a mail delivery error. Anyway thanks for the link of that piece of music. I found out that Loud in Denmark stock the CD but charges over 40 EUR and that to much. I'll keep an eye on it.
@Patrick
No I dont smoke that pipe its an gift and I use it for decoration. The two soundbase underneath is a little joke. And you see it works.
If you go to the posted link to the related Mana threat you will see the background.
@Steve B
That might be valid for business but I guess not for Mana phases. I went from p1 (just the brik stands) to p2 then p4, p7 and p11. The improvement is alway very listenable.
Even for the LP12 (p17) every stage was an improvement and quite easy to recognise.
There could be a point further on but who know.

Hi gus,
the ceiling is about 8m high. No there isnt any problem with heating. I was a bit unsure that brik are working about 45 cm from the wall. But I have to lift the Ekos a bit to get less bass out. No problem at all. I cant recognize any influence sound wise of the radiator. They are havy and solid made.
As for the grills they are original and in very good condition.

Well Karly thats quite easy she's a real music lover.
I bought her a little Naim system 5 years ago. The system was a NAIT3/NAT03/CD3.5 and Tukans and sounded awfully good in that big room. She collected alot of music during the days. Then she ask to get more or better music and got her first Mana rack. A 72/hc/140 came in and later 135 and Keiligh. Next upgrade was Mana p2 for amps and sound base for Keiligh. She loves to get more out of the system. Later the Keiligh was replaced by Neat Petite/Gravitas. This was a really good sounding system.
Well actually her system has retired and is waiting for better days.

I must show those photos to my girlfriend to make her realise that my coffin-looking speakers aren't that bad after all.
I think that you're very lucky indeed to have such an understanding and supportive girlfriend!

Frank.

won’t you hear an old Hungarian joke will you.
Once a woman visited a psychiatrist, saying: believe me I’m all right only my relatives forced me to come to you but I’m REALLY all right. The only matter is that I’m fond of apply pie.
“No matter — says the doctor —, I like apple pie, either.”
There is a suspicious light appearing in the woman’s eyes when she says: “Doctor, you must visit me! In my flat all the rooms, the bedroom as well the kitchen and the toilet all are stacked up to the ceiling of apple pie.”

WELL!!!!!
I conclude from your setup that you are approx 7ft6" tall.
Either that or you listen while standing on a ladder.
To get your ears on tweeter axis must be difficult unless of course your settee is on a suitable no of MANA stands.
The room looks and hopefully sounds fabulous.
I would love to put my horns in there. They need a large room to work well.
My room really is a bit too small for the horns.
Does your girlfriend have a sister.
I have met very few delctable women prepared to stay at my house due to the fact that it is a bit of a hifi shop.
regards David

Frank I've got a very uncommon opinion on that on. I guess if somebody want to have a relationship she must take the wole guy (me
) and that means together with my music and my system. I had never ever any problem with that and I wish that all music lovers gets partner who understand that passion.
Ha graphoman good joke I prefer Mana stages.
But did you know that my girlfriend and I are Psychotherapists? Its nice isnt it.
Indeed David that would be an ideal room for horns. Horns need much distance to listen to. I never came really in and I guess its because of the rooms. Listen to many horns and liked some of them but all my places wasnt big enough.
Sorry David Guddy hasnt a sister but a brother, shall I ask him?
But its a kind of education of your partner to get what you want.
Cheers,
Hermann

Is using NLP on your partner to get what you want ethical?

I'm with Hermann on this...
There's no way I'd trade music for domestic bliss - PERIOD> Like Lou Reed's "Heroin" is his "wife and life" so's music to me. I have many female mates, but am really not bothered about the girlfriend route - simply because most of the women I meet don't seem to be very interested in music.
There is ONE who might be suitable, but she's way out of my league I reckon. Oh well, I'll stick with good ole tunes then
That Mana is serious btw - I'm still one to hear Mana personally, but it obviously works for you
When the music's over turn out the lights
