The best sounding "The Wall"-CD

Recently, a friend made a vinyl rip of Pink Floyd´s "The Wall". He told me that this pressing on vinyl was the best sounding for him.

I must say that his rip to Cd is outstanding.
I have the "Oh by the way"-box and the remastered "The Wall", but this vinyl-rip blows both outta the water...

So, just curious, which version of "The Wall" is the best sounding???

I just won on ebay a version which many say is the best. It is the COLUMBIA C2K 36183-version.

What are you appreciated opinions?

The best version I've heard is the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs CD. Gorgeous, dynamic and warm, and free of the excessive brightness a lot of the MFSL CDs have. It sells for silly money on ebay but the pure wav files can be found quite easily online if you don't mind that sort of thing.

I happen to have a copy of the MFSL "The Wall" which I bought new & dead cheap in The States many years ago. I've still got the rather strange box it came in!

I agree it's a t'riffic recording, but I still prefer my old original vinyl copy, even though it's a bit noisy here and there.

I have the Columbia 40AP pressing you mention, it's immense, blows the other vinyl versions into a cocked hat.

But the MFSL gold 2-CD set is also superb (and valuable - I remember one going on eBay a couple of years ago for £400!). The original EMI CDs were pretty ropey IIRC.

The MFSL is the best cd of The Wall. It was rather special, being overseen at the mastering stage by Roger Waters. The sealed long box version remains the most I've ever paid for an album......and I don't even have a cd player!
