DVLA?

So I write a great little post, ask it to put in bold '08' and it does, but deletes everything else in the post!! I'll re post it again later. Sorry guys.
I would have deleted the whole thing but we no longer have permission to do so.

Trying again.

So my eldest daughter has her 18th birthday soon.
We bought her a small car to learn to drive in.
She applies for a provisional licence & includes her passport as proof of ID as requested.
After a few weeks it comes back, yippee.
We start to look for lessons.
Daughter checks licence...
Dad, they have my birthday as being 08!

Now we either have a 98 year old lady applying for a provisional licence, or some random DNA in my body has learnt to do things way to early?

OK, this is human error.

But surely there has to be a way to stop such VERY OBVIOUS mistakes? Is there realy no flagging system to show 98yr old folks are applying for provisional licences?

We checked her passport, it is correct!

It was funny to start with, but then I think, well actually, its rather poor form.

Two weeks later the mistake has not been rectified.

Steve,

I,ve heard some horror stories regarding the DVLA, the one which comes formost to mind is there have been quite a few people who having sent off their licenses for the new type, have had them back only to find certain catagories now missing (ie full motorcycle entitlement), the DVLA's attitude to this was to tell those affected that they now need to re-take their tests as the original licenses had been destroyed.

T'is worth taking a copy of your licnece before posting you original to the DVLA - they gave my dad no 'grandfather rights' when he recently had to update his licence, then denied he'd had them - needless to say a suitable letter plus a copy of the copy went in and now all is well.

Phew! Just checked my license - everything ok. I haven't got to take any more tests.

DVLC make quite a nice profit of more than million pounds from their 08 inquiry number
