Without PIC

Chapchachos !

My CD5 say P108, which means that I don't have upgraded PIC, it's almost new (november 02'). I am interesting what really happens when you press play and want to listen protected cd on Naim cd player with previous version of software or whatever that is?

Thanks,

Ozren

P108 has no copy protection fix. The PIC update with the copy protection fix in it is P109. You should really let your dealer do the modification for you, unless there is no dealer in Zagreb of course!

Frank !

I know that P108 is not fixed and I should upgrade to P109 for playing protected discs without problem, but I still don't know what will happened if I want to play protected cd in CD5.
(Still don't have one).
Yes there is a dealer here in Zagreb, which is not Naim only dealer because he sell Mission/Cyrus, but you can order any black box you want and must wait aproximatelly 4-6 months. Of course, any demonstration of Naim equipment is impossible, just pay and wait... (said, isn't it).
Frank, I will do it myself. It is easier to exchange that piece than soldering a cable to connector, believe me. I was do that many times with computer components. Wink

The symptom varies a bit depending on the type of copy control I think. I have a CDX without the upgrade. The one CD I have had a problem with (CAVE IN - ANTENNA) experienced about 1-2 seconds of jumpy replay a few seconds into each track, very annoying but still listenable.
