Canadians on the forum?
Posted by: Martinleon on 26 January 2008
Hello everyone, I am a new Naim owner and enjoy very much the collegiality of this forum. I particularly enjoy the feeling of being connected to people from around the world.
I am also curious to see how many people are from Canada (incluant le Québec mes amis!) on this forum. Why not posting a line here and tell me where you are (town and province) in Canada and what is your Hi-Fi system.
I will obviously start! I am Martin from the south shore of Montreal in Quebec. I have a Supernait with CD5X. I am using the Hi-Line interconnect and NACA5 cables. My speakers are Spendor S8e.
Let's see how many fellow compatriotes are on this forum!
Thanks

I'm originally from St Albans England, met my wife in Finland, we were both on a trip and ended up living in Edmonton - god it's cold at the moment. Currently enjoying Rega P3-24, DV17D3, P75 mk2, CDX2, SuperNait, Supercap, SL2s and NSub.
Hoping to upgrade at some point to Avid Sequel, ARO, TK Rua, CDS3, 555PS, 252 and 300.
This year I will be eligible for citizenship!!

Martin,
Todd has something for you.

Tim,
You can now at least try the Volvere, Bryan should have received it now.
For the Sequel Aro Rua, my own setup, just waiting for the cartridge, when you'll want to try it ask Bryan.

Clisshold: Hello and welcome
Manu: Got the message from Todd that he would have it next monday. Glad to see the problem was actually found. Anxious to pick it up... apparently sometime next week.
Merci

Thanks Manu,
I'll let my own system settle down, but I know as soon as I see it I'll want one. However a friend of mine in England has two complete Garrard 401 mechs, so am considering his kind request to donate them to me so I can send to Loricraft for a complete re-build and new plinth.

Speaking to my daughter in Vernon and her in-laws in Canmore at the weekend shows both have had exceptionally heavy snow-fall this winter and that its still continuing.
The in-laws had planned to take part in a ski-run in Edmonton (yes, a good four-hour drive on a good day) at the weekend but it was cancelled because the organisers thought that -40 deg C was too cold for the 600 marshals and the circa 1,800 skiers.
Meanwhile, here in England, the uncut grass is over a foot long, the bar-b-que is warming up and the tee-shirts and shorts have pride of place in the wardrobe again....
Cheers

We are currently planning our summer holiday for 2008 and are thinking of including the Tonquin Valley and Ramparts as a four or five-day hike.
I notice there are two outfits in the valley that run log-cabins. Rather than taking our tent/cooking/food etc, I thought the cabins/meals might be an easier option.
Has anybody any first-hand or close-hand experience of either of these outfits. Various web-sites seem to give mixed reports.
Cheers
Don

Team Montreal, where are we going to put all this damn snow?
I don’t mind the fluffy stuff, but god please no more sugar snow … It took me 7 hours to clear the sugar snow.
Calgon, take me away!

Hi Lapdog, great to have news from Naim user around Montréal!! I agree with you... this year is a good one. I have found a picture that sums it up (although it is obvious on the picture it was NOT taken around Montréal or even the whole province of Québec as there is not much snow... but you get the idea!)
Personnally, I am not in this spirit... I prefer a winter with snow than no snow at all... but it's true that it's getting long!
One good thing... we advance our clocks one hour tonight!

Hum...
Last week in UK, weather was not so bad in fact...a few days of rain, but at least a week long break of snow .
Shoveling the snow up has become our national sport...
