I am genuinely excited by this.

I love the album, have three copies on vinyl and two on CD. None are really up to the mark IMHO.

I have been waiting for years for this.

Strange how some fantastic albums came out around then and have stood the time and are being reissued as 30th anniversary editions - notably Electric Warrior by T.Rex ( dont laugh unless you have heard it - there are some great guitar sounds on this. I played it on Mick Parrys' system back end of last year....wow....)

Mike ( an old hippy at heart who saw the Clash and the Sex Pistols live in the same week - and the Clash where better...those where the days....)

Mike,

I have two copies on Vinyl and one on CD and have always liked it. I saw Pink Floyd do it live, Wembley Arena 1974. The first big concert I went to , up till then local bands. I also like the Pistols and the Clash but never got to see them. I think everyone should have a copy of Never Mind the Bollocks in their collection.

Regards

Speaking of Dark Side of the Moon, does anyone have the definitive scoop on the whole alleged synchronicity between this album and the film Wizard of Oz? One is supposedly able to start the album at a certain point in the beginning of the film and all sorts of things line up in an amazing way. Anyone heard of this? Tried it? Know more about it? Just for the record, I learned of this from two completely sober family members.

Hi Fred, do a search in google for "pink floyd synchronicity" and you'll get numerous sites that discuss both Oz and 2001 ("Echoes"), along with some others.

I've been meaning to check out 2001 but haven't gotten to it yet....

Cheers

Keith.

Fred

my understanding is that if you start a CD at the moment of the third MGM roar it works. Not tried it myself, though, through fear of sarcasm from The Nagger

So go to Play.com and get the R1 version - MANDATORY on any film with lots of music in IMHO... The Doors on R1 is a prime example...

I am not a #1 fan of Oz, but might buy this one day just to see if this really works - on R1 of course Smile

Won't the layer change upset the "effect" though? Smile

I just wish there was a less obtrusive way of fitting 24fps film onto R1 DVD - that 3/2 pulldown really ballses up slow pans etc...

As for anyone who's anyone HAVING to own Never mind the bollocks - too damn right. I think my parents might die if they heard it though!

When the music's over turn out the lights

Nick Mason, the Floyd's sticksman, has gone on the record a number of times re this Wizard of Oz bollocks.

It wasn't Oz at all, he says - it was the Sound of Music...

So there you have it, from the horse's mouth so to speak

What does he know about music - he's a drummer!

So is it true that, on the original release at least, Claire Torry wasn't credited for her wondrous orgasmic vocals?
Posted on: 18 March 2003 by Kevin-W
Claire Torry WAS credited for her vocals.

She should have received a standard £15 EMI session fee, but the Floyd, in their infinite generosity, made sure she was paid £30, however. So, £30 was all Ms Torry received for her work on one of the biggest-selling records ever.

The story goes that, when in the early 90s, "Great Gig" was used as the soundtrack to a Nurofen advert, Ms Torry received far more royalties in repeat fees for this ad than she ever did for DSOTM...

I believe Richard Write had the rights to that track on the nurofen advert and was severly chastised for letting them use it.

Sad or insane?

I was talking o one of he guys at Diverse Vinyl the other day, who told me that one of their customers had 67 different versions of DSOTM!

I have three on CD and six on vinyl, which I thought was pushing it, but that's just madness!

Kevin

Interestingly (or not), did you know that "Money" has been played live more times than any other PF song? The Floyd have played it at every single gig since January 1972; I haven't counted, but I think it's over 400 performances. Roger Waters has played it at every solo gig he's ever done; Fat Dave has been more imaginative: at his London and Paris gigs in 2001/02, he failed to play it (hooray!) and didn't play it on the European gigs of his "About Face" tour in 1984.

Richard

These are the ones I can think of

Sheep
Pigs on the Wing 1
Pigs on the Wing 2
Pigs (3 different ones)
Dogs
Dogs of War
Heart Beat Pig Meat
Octopus (SB)
Terrapin (SB)
Rats (SB)
Cat Cruise (RWr)
Mumbo Jumbo (NM)
Swan Lee (SB)
Birdie Hop (SB)

Then there's several Speciesof Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave & Grooving With A Pict

And Seamus and Lucifer sam areabout animals...

Do I win £5?
