Family Holiday's

Posted by: Diccus62 on 23 July 2006

We are after a family holiday next summer but are a bit clueless as to where to head. We are a family whose children next year will be 3, 4 and 9. We want guaranteed sun, a swimming pool, other families (certainly not rowdy and preferably no football shirts Big Grin). Wouldnt mind a Villa but prefer to be around others. I hear there are some nice parts of Majorca,Minorca or mainland Spain but am lost as to where to start with accommodation or areas. Would also like a nice beach and decent restaurants (not Full English signs as far as the eye can see). Prefer Europe as long haul would kill us with the kids. Budget about 3k.

We have been to Paxos before and loved it but its not ideal for the little ones as accommodation options are limited. Went to Skala on Cepahalonia last year and weren't particularly impressed, but maybe we picked the wrong resort. Maybe we are just want something a little more up market......... sorry i'm sounding a terrible snob here.

Also we fancy a winter break with the kids in February half term and have been to a great complex on Tenerife near Los Cristianos but didn't like the resort. Again is there anywhere a bit classier. Eek

Any idea's gratefully recieved.

Thanks

Bondi - it doesn't have a pool, but a great big lake. Great for kids.

August is a great time to go. You won't want to come back.

Diccus, your description sounds like Italy to me.

Yes, Italy may well fit the bill. Lake Garda, north of Verona is lovely. We stayed in Sirmione. Very nice.
We also went to Caorle, a little way east of Venice. Lovely people, beaches, food, prices. Its not v. well known by brits, & is more popular with Italians & germans.
