In my installation I should look at putting one in the kitchen and then another in the 'study' with the computer and TV.

I presume that they need an earth to be effective, i.e. they'd be no use on a line that isn't earthed ?

...but it didn't really make a difference to my system - I couldn't hear any improvement (nor could I hear any degredation, I have to add).

Perhaps my mains is already pretty clean - I run my kit off a 30A dedicated spur (8m length from consumer unit, floor-mounted unswitched MK double socket)

Personally, I've never looked inside a silencer, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was empty, based upon my experience with one.

Perhaps it's one of those things that needs 'dirty' mains to show off what it can do.

I had a couple of those Kimber power chords, which had a greater effect, but ultimately I sold them on as the addition of a dedicated 30A spur eclipsed their contributions and the money came in handy against a better rack.

Keep it away from your hifi (ring/spur), the initial impression seems to be an improvement, but removing it bring back the naim stylie...

Someone suggested to me sometime ago, as to installing a silencer/purifier in the garage (first socket near my consumer unit), the idea being the whole supply gets the treatment (including the hifi i presume ???)

Anyone tried this...

Tried this one and it either had no effect or deadened down the music.
Liked their 'Powerkords' and Kimber arm cables though.
