As Blueknowz said - he has the best two.
Definitely go for the vinyl.

If you want to try a later ISB elpee then Earthspan is very good.

Also Mike Heron's Similin' Men with Bad Reputations is a great album.

Hi There, The ISB albums are all being newly released on CD. Apparently Joe Boyd has been involved with the project and provided the original tapes for these releases. I haven't heard these but they should sound better than any previous cd release. I have 5000 spirits & Hangmans on vinyl and they are both great. Wee Tam & The Big Huge is also very good.

Mine are on Electra; I bought them when they first came out. I also have the later CDs, not the new Joe Boyd ones, and the original vinyl is considerably better.

However both the Sundazed and JB CDs sound interesting.

I think you'll love 5000 Spirits; it is totally unique and landmark album in popular music. Macca cites ISB as a firm influence on the Beatles.

Just got a copy of the Joe Boyd remasterd 5000 Spirits and it is very good, much better than other ISB CDs I've heard and definitely a viable alternative to the vinyl.

I recently bought the Wee Tam/Big Huge double CD (rightly, as it was originally a double-LP), and it's a great package with excellent sound.

Strangely it was originally released as both a double elpee and 2 single elpees - in the US it was not available as a double - I'll get my anorak.

Please don't forget Clive Palmer - his wonderful elpee Moyshe McStiff and the Tartan Lancers of the Sacred Heart is well worth checking out - please click here.

Glad you enjoyed it - Robin is a unique and fine songwriter - as the Mad Hatter said.
