Phonosophie-- what's their story?

Posted by: onlythat on 30 January 2004

They seem very Naimish in their views-- are they?

Has any heard their particular brand of musical satisfaction?

What'd you think? There are beautiful pictures of their gear on the soundstage website so i got curious.

i heard the phonosophie/aro/geddon turntable at sonet lumiere (no longer trading) a long time ago and it sounded better than a linn/lingo. cant remember what the cartridge was, but i think some lyra or other.

the only reason i didnt buy the turntable is that there are (were?) not many dealers in the UK who carried this ..

i dont know any of their other products.

enjoy

I am kinda more talking about their amps and pres/integrateds, as there is already some posting as to the vinyl stuff.

PS-- the website is stereotimes with the pictures-- not soundstage. My bad.

Power Control 3

Their Power Control 3 powersupply looks oddly familiar.

Mekon you are on the right way. The founder of Phonosophie was once the Naim Distributor of Germany. Then came musicline as the Germany distributor and as far memory serves short time later Phonosophie was born. Wink

Hello,

history comes back.
Right concerning that Phonosophie (located in Hamburg) was before the distributor.
I was convinced to go for Naim by them in 1986 (Buying my first Naim Nait). By the way I went into the shop do by a middle CD-player, normal amplifier and good boxes: I came out with a thorens record player with Linn system K5, a Naim Nait and Linn Index Boxes. They just had me listening to CDs and Records. Still today I am thankfull that they showed me reality.
Some years later there was a personal break with Naim in England and the owner of Phonosophie, still development goes into the same direction: They sell cables for Naim equipment (I bought some loadspeaker Cables from them - looks like NACA5 but is a little bit faster/clearer in the sound with my Avanti III).
Their Record Player is based on a Thorens 2001, Naim Aro and an own external Power supply.
www.phonosophie.de will give you a little more information.

To my knowledge you may trust their products like you trust Naim.

Have fun

Their Record Player is based on a Thorens 2001

To my eyes it seems most of their products are based on someone else's products.
