HDX not showing music

Posted by: gmischol on 22 March 2010

Up until now, everything worked fine. Today I imported three new albums (Elvis Costello: Secret, Profane & Sugarcane, Marc Cohn: Marc Cohn and Rodrigo y Gabriela: 11:11). Everything looks fine on importing with the importmonitor showing progress in importing the songs, the CDs get ejected, but when I try to find the albums, there is nothing in the HDX. It still says on system monitor that there is 20GB of space left.
What to do? Any help is appreciated.

Couple of questions:

1. Did you observe the ripping monitor whilst ripping ?
2. If so, was the album correctly identified?
3. Have you checked the Tools/Status & Messages/lookup messages in the Desktop Client software for the ripping results.

Sometimes, although it would be unusual for 3 albums, the disc is unknown and ends up in the "unknown" listing.

Have you restarted the HDX ? do so if not, lastly I hope you have the latest 1.5 software installed.

If still no joy then contact the dealer you purchased from.

Hi PureHifi

1. yes I observed the monitor whilst ripping and the albums have been identified correctly
I have restarted the HDX, 1.5 is installed
I didn't check the Tools/Status etc, will do it this evening and report back

Anyway, thanks for your fast reaction

Check your Music Stores–if the highest-priority store is offline, this may have something to do with it....

ok, as per Dave's post, as far as I am aware what should occur is:

(If you have setup to rip to a NAS drive and the external store is highest priority)

The rip is cached locally, immediatly after ripping has ended in a hidden folder.

1) rip should move itself to NAS as per your settings after a few minutes of the rip

2) if the NAS store is offline OR less than 4GB is left on the store, then it should then move the music to the internal drive

3) If the internal drive music folder also has less than 4GB also, the rip should abort before it even starts

In the case of just using the internal drives, the rips go to the internal drive obviously, but if there is less than 4GB space left, the rip will abort almost immediatly.

Ok, back home, checked the HDX, the albums still don't show up, neither on my secondary musicstore. I looked at the system messages and found this

Does this meen anything?

Thanks

That suggests one of your rips didn't look up correctly, i.e. the artist, album or track had an odd character in it.

If you scroll down to the 7 lines down to the ripping event, what does it report?

I suggest contacting Phil.Harris@naimnet.com, where we can then help you resolve this.

Possible, but this would have happend for all three albums I mentioned above, which would be odd. On all the lines it says the same thing as displayed on the image.

For the ripping event it just says that the album has been matched

You hadn't previously ripped those albums, had you? (Just a guess...)

Yes, I tried it several times with the same result.
By the way, what happens, if you rip an album several times? Does the HDX recognise it is already ripped or will it appear twice?

I suspect it's one disc that has caused the problem, not all three. We really need to get hold of the album in question and find out why it's annoyed the unit.

Please contact the above so that we can take this further.

If it looks the album up the same (for instance if it looked up on AMG first time and the second time AMG was contactable), then it overwrites the original

Ok I sent an email to Phil Harris. Hope he can help.
