FRAIMING THE ROOM

Posted by: Onthlam on 25 September 2001

Well, it appears that music will be back into the life fairly soon. Set up the Fraim the other day.
Thought I would send a pic of what is going on.

Great idea using granite chippings on the floor -- presumably you move the kit out between disks to reduce the dust problem?? wink

This layout looks great from a component isolation point of view. Are there cable length issues, if so how will you overcome them?

Nice room. Great tables and I love the "Mastermind" chair.

Simon, It appears that the lengths will be good.

If I remember correctly?

top rack(l to r) 500/52/cds2/lp12
middle rack (l to r) empty/01/empty/empty
bottom rack (l to r) 500ps/pst-psa/scap/xps

I am sure it will change again before its done.

FYI, I have owned this kit for awhile. My family and I have moved and were renting a home for the last 17 monthes. The gear has been in its boxes in one of the bedrooms for all this time.

The floor is actually carpet. As far as dust is concerned? There is a wonderful air cleaning system that will take out 99% of everything down to .50 micron and even smaller at less of a degree. Oh, I should read those specs again.

The room is open to the rest of the house. This is a beni. We now have a whole house music system.
And from what I am told will allow the DBLS to load and get to that last octive.COOL!!

It appears that set up will/might take place within a couple weeks.

Thanks for the response. I am stoked!

That chair is a godsend..........

Best Regards to all,

Marc Newman

PS: this is the room that I had 6 lengthes of A5 installed in the walls via flexable tubing.

LP12 cable will not reach the 52. Suspect PSA will not reach LP12.

You might like to try:-

500 /PST /CDSII/LP12
empty/SCap/52 /empty
500PS/XPS /NAT01/PSA

Why?

It has been reported by several people that putting PSs on separate stacks to unpowered kit is very preferrable.

My CDPS (early version of XPS) is extremely sensitive to what it sits on and the bottom of most racks is the best. If Fraim turns this rule on it's head, then XPS/SCap/PST from top to bottom.

Lightening the load under the LP12 may benefit this.

I'm sure you'll try several arrangements before you're done!

cheers, Martin

Hi Mark,

Can you tell me more about this device? Is it a stand alone unit.

Dev,

This puppy is not like any other I have seen or used in the past.

First off, let me tell you how much I hate dust.
A BUNCH!!! The primary reason was to find a system that would allow my wife to limit her allergies within the house. One. This is a construction zone. The development and area are being built up and as you know, can cause many critters to be airborne.

On to the install.
The unit replaces the filter that goes into the intake(return). The filter is called the Dynamic 1". There is a unique difference between the filter and others. It is not electrstatic and therefore causes no Ozone and because of that you will not hear pops and ticks.

There filter is placed inside the unit and connected to a 24 volt source at the hvac.
The unit is always on and is very easy to take care of.

The only thing you need to remember is to change the filter every 60 to 90 days.
Two different kind of filters.

1. mesh
2. carbon
The later allows the system to eliminate oders in the house.

Both, I think, have a 6000 volt charge going through the panel.

The company does make floor standers and you will find shipping easy. I think it is made in Canada?

Here is the best part. The price.
Anyone who has some ability to work on hvac can put this puppy in.So, your petty cash should only be hit for 300.00 dollors.

I have spent much more and received much, much less results in the past...

Look it up on the web...They make units for everything.

One other note. As this unit becomes loaded with gunk it becomes more efficient in its job. Thats a change, huh?

Thanks for the dust info. I don't like dust much either and am looking for something similar, who makes the device.

Dev

Dev, look at http://puritec.com
This will take you to one of the sites that was very helpful in making the decision we made. Very nice folks...You will find the CT500 which is the larger floor stander and the 1" intake unit that we chose...

Hope this helps, Marc
