Beautiful lp covers Turned to **** !

Since there was a thread on Joan Sutherland, I looked up the Offenbach recording only to find they have changed the cover for the smaller CD format. The first from Ebay photo is the original, then the CD issue. Next, two examples from Richter's Bach Cantata set.

I've noticed this mostly with classical issues but there are many other examples. What a sad situation. Does anyone else miss the aesthetic benefits of the bygone Lp?

though I no longer have vinyl to compare, I would share your sentiments, though, as you indicate, I haven't seen as much of this in the genres of music I frequent most.

I mentioned this weekend on the "listening now" thread that one of the things I love about posting the covers is the near "tactile" memories of handling lp covers. I bought many many albums in my life for no other reason initially then liking the cover art - so much of that is lost with cd.

Don't miss out guys - there is a solution close to hand - it's called vinyl!! I got some of the recent Japanese re-issues a couple of weeks back and the covers are fantastic. What are you waiting for??!! Big Grin
