82/SNAXO/2*250 or 52/SNAXO/4*135 ?

Hi!

My active SBLs with LP12/Aro/Geddon/Troika are driven by 92/2*90 and I want to upgrade soon. I don't know yet if I want to end with 52/4*135 or 82/2*250, but I think that if I go for 82/250s I would not upgrade to 52/135s anymore...

So my questions: is the difference between 82/2*250 and 52/4*135 bigger than between 92/2*90 and 82/2*250? Are the SBLs limited by 82/250s or would 52/135s show the SBLs limitations?

If anybody of you has upgraded from 82/SNAXO/2*250/SBL to 52/SNAXO/4*135/SBL please tell me about your experience!

Best wishes from Jun

Went 62/hicap/140 through 82/hcap/250 to 52/supercap/135 adding snaxo/supercap/2nd pair 135 which is my current.

Problem is when you get ot this height is where to go next. Just spoke to Naim this morning about my own upgrade path.

The problem with 4x135s is that to go 500 there's a lot of gear to chop in with consequent losses

FWIW my advice would be:

Upgrade the 82 to 52
Prefix/Hicap the LP12
Decide whether to go NAP500 or NBL next

This would avoid my position of having to make backwards/sidewards moves or extensive financial outlay

No decision is a bad one at this level, its about priorities and having the money!

I'm not familiar with the active variables, so my comment is supported by experience with passive systems. Although the jump from 82/250 to 52/135 isn't as big as that from 92/90 to 82/250, it is very significant nonetheless (for all aspects). If you go to 82/250 first, don't rule out the possibility that you'll want to go further later.

So you recommend to go for 52/135s if money allows. In this case I would try to skip the 82/250s-step...

And what about my question "Are the SBLs limited by 82/250s or would 52/135s show the SBLs limitations?" - - any answers?

From 52/135/SBL the (Naim) upgrade path is to NAP500/NBL or DBL. The recent thread on this issue highlights the issues with differences in opinion on which comes first if you cant afford both (not many can?), but the 500 seems to have the edge. smile
