Yeah,
I missed the WHOLE thing, cause I had other things to do. Would like to see a re-play, though. Anybody knows, whether there'll be a DVD set ?

I expect the BBC will issue a box set. I don't think the whole thing would fit on 1 DVD.
Bad planning Stefan. Like everybody says it was the old guys who were really stunning, their guitar work, particulalrly Gilmour and Townsend was class.

...and of course The Final Cut should have been; the Dirision Bell is, er, well, let's not go there.
I was quite impressed with The Who AND 'Floyd; was a good excuse to use my old Pioneer tape deck to record the tracks as well - surprised at how well they came out considering the deck's not been used in 2 years!

I'm seeing them on Friday! Here in Exeter!! I can't wait

Clearly this is going to seriously lower my standing here (if that's possible
), but I actually rather like both the Division Bell (my first floyd album) and momentary lapse of reason. I wouldn't like to say it was better or worse than the earlier stuff, just different.
I'm sure I read somewhere that there will be a dvd and it will contain pink floyd (but I can't for the life of me remember where).
regards,
Tam

Floyd were o.k. but thet certainly didn't hold the live audience's attention as well as many of the earlier acts. Tens of thousands left Hyde Park during Floyd's performance, most likely due to transport worries, but the exodus of people tramping over your feet disrupted the moment.

To non floyd fans I can see why this set was boring and with worries about getting home I can understand why they were leaving in their droves.
For me the Floyd stole the show, they were excellent an to see RW revelling in sheer enjoyment was a delight.
Their announcement that proceeds form extra record sales following their appearance to charity has to be applauded.
This is the true spirit of live8

I sat down yesterday and listened to DSOTM and WYWH straight through.
Probably try The Wall today, but can't decide on whether the original or the live version. Both, one after the other, might be rather too much.

There will be a DVd set. It's coming out on EMI in November.
PF's sales have increased by over 1,300% since Saturday. Apparently if they carry on at this rate, DSOTM, WYWH and THE WALL will be in the top 30 next week, and ECHOES will be in the top 10. So far as I know, nobody has yet followed the Floyd's example and donated their royalties.
Readers of the Daily Mirror voted da Floyd as the top act of Live8, stealing the show from Robbie, Madogga and Macca/U2.
A torrent, for those who don't know, is a form of file-sharing. The best typeis BitTorrent, which was actually developed as a way of LEGALLY downloading live concerts for free. Thanks to BitTorrent, I have acquired over 250 shows by Can, Led Zep, New Order, Kraftwerk, Joy Division and the Floyd in the past year.
Best Bit Torrent sites are Dime A Dozen, Pure Live Gigs, The Traders Den, Torrent Spy and The Bootleg Zone

I agree, tough choice. One today, one tomorrow? And don't forget the film version!

Have decided on Is There Anybody Out There?, simply because I know it less well. It'll be helped down with pizza and a few Holsten Pils.
Can't play the studio set tomorrow, as I'm off to Glyndebourne for The Magic Flute (brag, brag!).
It's a tough life, but someone's got to do it.
All the best.

Glyndebourne! You luck so and so. I wasn't able to mooch off my parents for tickets this year (was very annoyed when they took my brother +1 to see Mackerras do the Magic Flute). They said it was very good though (but I don't think you'll be getting Mackerras, as he only did a few and that was a little while back; I can thoroughly recommend his recent opera in english recording on chandos) - let me know how it is? Still, hope the weather is good for you.
That said, can't complain too much, was at a rather wonderful production of Le Comte Ory at Garsington on Sunday.
Back to the topic in hand, I may have another listen to the live version (I rather like the one different song on the first disc, a shame it isn't on the studio album).

Tam

quote:All we got to see here (the US) was, depending on which network you watched, either a snippet of "Comfortably Numb" (MTV/VH-1 et al) or a slice of "Money" (ABC?). I was disappointed, to put it mildly. I wanted to bask in the emotion of it the whole set*! If the set is available on the DVD, I'll buy it...oh, I get it.
This was the most historic reunion since the Beatles Anthology project, what's wrong with the f*****g media?

I heard on the radio yesterday morning that the record sales of every artist that performed at Live8 had gone up, except Pete Doherty.
Poetic justice or what!
Cheers,
Jon

I thought the floyd were excellent, and pleased they managed to play for twice as long as anyone else.
I thought Waters' voice was a bit rough, and I had initially wondered why he didn't sing more of Money/Breathe. Especially as his voice is pretty good on the Waters' Live In the Flesh DVD.
