Stageline Question

If you intend to run a stageline with a hicap, how do you get the signal from the hicap into your pre-amp. do you need a special cable (like 4pin to 5pin)? Does this badboy come with the stageline?

Yes.

No, it doesn't.

Many users will be running them off NAIT5, 112 or 52, and these can parasitise the power from the preamp p/s.

This would be money wasted for those users.

It is no either/or situation for me. I have enough PSU's to go around. I'm just miffed that I have tp purchase yet another special cable to run the stageline from a dedicated PSU.

Rather than spend the 110 on the new cable, I'll probably replace the 240 degree four pin Din in teh hicap with a 180 degree 5 pin DIN. This way, i can use the standard Lavender interconnect between the hicap and the pre-amp.

$110 for the stageline Snaic! They're £50 in the UK.

DIN 4-5 should be either $75 or $90 in the States (can't remember; must add to retail list).

This is still cheaper than a Chord equivalent or the SNAIC-5 required to power the unit; this cable is standard with the more-expensive Prefix.

I was just guessing on the price. I figured it would be about what a snaic costs. I'm glad to see it is a bit less. Still, it is yet another special cable, which has (as far as I can tell) only one use (the very specialized application between the PSU and the pre-amp line level input--though I could be wrong about this).
