Active Briks w/110s

Posted by: Eric Barry on 22 January 2003

They're gonna commit me one of these days.

I have purchased (but yet not picked up) a pair of PMS Briks (1984) with Naxo. And I already own an even older pair of DMS. Have I gone off the deep end? This is all for my second (living room) system, btw.

What do you think will sound better, fronted by LP12/Ittok/prefix/112/hi?

a)/naxo/snaps/140/110/110/PMS
or
b)250/DMS

By the way, at the prices I paid, option a was 20% cheaper.

Was that the pair that was just sold on eBay? That would have been an interesting purchase; prablem was that I only have one amp. Wink

Cheers

Keith.

The smart money is on the active system.

There is more than a 3db advantage between active and passive, this is also the difference between the NAP-250 (70watt) and NAP-110 (40watt).

The NAP-250 has the advantage of regulated power supplies but in the final analysis the direct coupling of the NAP-110 to the individual drivers will
provide the benefit.
