Eating On The Dole In Germany in 2005:
Posted by: Berlin Fritz on 16 June 2005
As our Mick amongst others quite rightly & often point out lazy benefit scroungers like myself should never be given any sympathy or leeway when it comes to un-earned luxury's. After speaking to my pensioner Mother last night in London, I did feel rather mean that she had to endure (enjoy-actually) her favourite Liverpool Street Station Cornish pasty, brought home and warmed up as her birthday supper, and I sat scoffing rump steak with all the trimmins( as our Kofi would say). Although I'm quite used to living on egg & chips, as well as toast and tuna & onions, which fortunately I enjoy all of (marmite too) I did decide to celebrate a small victory yesterday evening and I thought I'd give out the rundown of events for your education(s), innit.
Basket of small well ripe (last day) mushrooms €0,79, pack of fresh
Italian 'thingy ?'salad € 0,99, 1 Large Spanish onion €0,27, some fine Cretian Olive oil which I already had (used 0,25 of the small
bottle, 1 fresh lemon, fresh garlic (already there), and two pretty
decent sized Rump Steaks (last day of sell by date, ie, 35% reduction)
€4,58 the pair (not an ounce of fat to be seen on them (just like moir ?)).
Cooked it all up & washed it down with some (cooled Aussie Shiraz 2001) €2,99, not to mention the Thai chili sauce to slightly spruce up the gravy, and mopped up with some very basic rye bread (no butter). It's now some 24 hours after that enjoyable meal (as good if not better than any restaurant)(as well as watching Oz & Germany pretending to play football) and now I've repeated the whole excercise once again, though today's steak was marinated overnight in Fritz's special survival of the fattest (fittest even) top secret Nat King Cole recipe, cos if yer dinnee stay on top, nobody's gonna do it for yers,( I eat red meat about twice a year if I'm lucky that is): innit.
Fritz Von And then there was winter, but that's another story entirely
Pish: For those wise guys & gals who say 'Get A JOB', do something you
lazy fat git, I remind them that all the SAS/SBS+ training in the world will not prepare you for the street & 'legal' City survival, so never make the silly mistook of thinking otherwise, or tell yer kids that old bollocks either, ken ? It's quite simple really:
P.S I live on roughly €8,00 a day after rent, tele/internet, and electricity (PM) which I personally find sufficient. Medical insurance, various taxes (depending on who you are & what you do) & pension, etc, have been calculated prior to these cash payments based on ones working history etc, innit. So when Our Mick wants his Spanish benefits as a pensioner it'll be intrersting to see how he gets on ?

How the hell do you get that much money after all bills on the dole in Germany?
Even with my cripple additions (don't tell me to be PC - are any of you lot registered disabled??) I was on less than that here in 1996 for the 3 months I was on the dole.
Just curious - not having a dig at you Fritz
Posted on: 17 June 2005 by Berlin Fritz
We get now (Irrespective of previous occupation the same across the board). Many folk think €8,00 a day ie € 240 a month (in my case only, as all bills vary obviously) is simply not enough to live on. This amount must cover food/clothing/transport costs/entertainment/hobbys/Bank charges/prescription & quarterly medical costs (mentioned previously) as well as whatever other usual suprises one may get through the letter box, so I wouldn't say it's that luxurious, it cannot be compared in any way to UK living, and as said before, one gets generally what one's paid in, no more -no less, innit.
Fritz Von Having a go at me is par for the course my old son, I wouldn't be here if it bothered me in the slightest, as said previously on numerous occassions, I see it as fun/daily practice/ and positive to have a free hand at airing my own 'dodgy' opinions in hopefully a humorous way, beats the Pink Salmon Show anyday John dunnit.
P.S. Postal costs/copying etc/ for regular job applications included there too, can be claimed back after 12 months´(with evidence) but still has to be paid up front, TV licence is free though.
PPS. I'm personally only disabled in that I can't get to see the Hammers play too often, so am not really a true supporter like those that buy their way in, and I must say 1996 was quite a long time ago, wunnit ! What would you get today ?

Notwithstanding your frugal creativity in the cuisine department I find the concept of one so gifted in the gab department to be utterly wasted on such dolery. You owe it to yourself to at least push a broom somewhere willing to accept your obvious over-qualification for the task.
Don't I remember you dropping an IT job in the USA into the conversation at some point recently? A red herring? Or just phishing?
Posted on: 17 June 2005 by Berlin Fritz
Nime; old Son, I've probably pushed more brooms and cleaned more toilets than you've had hot dinners mate. The problem here is (as when I was fired in Dec - first time ever) is the question of Job Description. If I take on a job as a bog cleaner, I expect to clean bogs, and get paid accordingly and have absolutely no problem with that. In the real world of use and abuse, I was asked to do something by my ex boss that was nothing to do with the firm whatsover. It was his own private stuff/weekend to which I said I'd do for him privately if he paid me cash (not excessive either). He refused, as he knew he couls con some other poor sod & take the piss, and found a way of ousting me, as I was still on probation, as well as taking a day off with a mega hangover one fine day(unpaid & I rang in early morning to explain ) as my father had died the day before.
If I go for one of the very few jobs now on offer to me (irrespective of what it may be, I'm not a bread head so money isn't the main factor)firstly I'm too old (35 age barrier in 99% of cases) then I'm over-qualified or underqualified. I've offered my services (to the local town Hall as well Dole office) free (UNPAID) in English translation/teaching, etc, etc, over the relevant periods, and all to no avail. If I'm told to go to Mac Donald's tommorow by the dole office and start a 7 day shift on € 5 an hour or less, what would you do ? I would rather work for nothing at all, retaining my social staus & self respect than hit such a low. )s-Status refers to being insured medically etc, not Ego). I personally have never worked here black (I could tommorow if I wanted to, and earn good dosh). Signing off for three months is not an option, as I'd be uninsured, and couldn't afford to pay it privately, cash in hand-illegal black work is fine for those passing through (This is my permanent home, I live here). Thanks for your compliments earlier, If I ever get my book finished I'll let you 'Buy' the first signed copy, innit.
Fritz Von Now get back to work
Ego trips don't pay the rent, never have done and never will do:
Posh: To date I have a totally clean sheet Taxwise & Police record-wise UK & Here. Getting caught today working black can mean mega-fine, & up to 6 months in nick (they don't play around anymore quite rightly), as well as me still being a guest in this country even after 25 years. If the situation in UK was the same, I'd be interested on views rtegarding Tax Dodgeing etc ? I do actuakky still pay tax even now, as I've previously said for our Mick & his Ilks benefit, innit:

Hi Mr. Fritz, Lomo's wife here, I want to thank you for putting in writing how you live in my old country. I have a half sister living in Muenster and she has been telling me some very sad tales of her life ,which I took with a grain of salt, as she is very apt to embroider what ever tale she sends my way, so living in the good country I had very little time for her tale of woe , but I will have to rethink my approach towards her . She too, is on the dole and finding it very hard to cope.
May I say ,that I too like Thai chilli sauce and tuna and onion on toast, also Rollmops and Schweinemett, one just never forgets ones home-grown taste buds .
Posted on: 17 June 2005 by Berlin Fritz
Just a last but very relevant point Nime old Tosh is the Contract aspect which I forgot to mention. If I find a job myself, or get sent to one by the Nat KIng Cole office (very rare),& if in the happy event of me actually getting taken on, I require from day 1. a work Contract and job description (Law), even re: probation etc, etc. If this doesn't materialise after 3 days, I am not legal as it were, uninsured, and probably get sent off after a week with no pay either, as well as having exceptional difficulty getting signed back onto the dole again, a catch 22² if you like.
Fritz Von Down to the betting shop methinks

Hello Mrs Lomo,
Münster is apparently a lovely place, and I hear also boasts some great Irish pubs for the Ebnglish-Speaking community over there who pretend they're €uropean. Although being on the dole has got very much worse for people (since Jan 2005) who previously had top jobs/savings/own homes etc/ as well as expensive possessions like HI FI for instance that now have to justify those things (means testing etc). I consider myself lucky as my debt has been spent on holidays to such places as where you now live for instance, so they can't take good memories away can they, unlike material goods, innit.
The Chancellor quite rightly reminds us that we should not be ashamed of our situation, and as Germany is still the biggest Exporter of goods in the whole wide world, there lives some hope at least I feel.
Cheers, Fritz Von Happy with his own lot, and definately not a tale of woes, au contrar, au contrare mADAM innit
Marmite's better than vegemite at least too

Fritz
You got sacked for whatever reason.
You say you are either too qualified or not qualified enough for any jobs available - so what exactly are your qualifications?
You say you would rather work for nothing - but you seem more than happy enough to do nothing and draw the German dole?
Perhaps you could say what paid employment you have actually looked for recently - or at all?
Perhaps you are a lazy bugger who deserves not sympathy but contempt. Anyway, Germany (or anywhere but the UK)is the best place for you.

Chavvers Old Chip ! Even awailable part time jobs at the moment here (Catering etc) only go for either pensioners or students, as unlike myself fully on the system as it were, the employer would have to pay a whoile lot more in insuranmce contributions etc, just like in the building trade with say British (self-employed time-served men) against a German (as they're just too expensive). My own CV is very flexible to date, and I'm not going into the ins and outs of it with folk here thank you very much, luvvly of you to ask though, innit.
Fritz Von I didn't get where I am today by abusing priveleges²
Pish: The comments regarding Over & Under Qualified came from prospective employers (not from me) in other words a reason not to employ me, EG, You don't have a Degree in English, so how can you teach it ? One needs a piece of paper for just about everything here, which on one side is the very reason that unemployment is so high through the markets inflexibility, the other aspect is the balancing act designed to protect (long faught for rights - long given up/lost in UK). A good example is say BA who'll rather take on Germans here, as is the case in UK with Brits, so they have a better hold on them, even though the quality of their work may not be better. (Please don't ply me with examples of this and that, I don't refer top self employed busines people here, I refer to individuals like myself who wish to be employees of reputable 'Legal' firms.
As you can see I'm perfick Civil Servile material with the bullshit I spurt out innit²

I thought the UK was the only country where you had to pay for TV. How much does it cost?
Posted on: 18 June 2005 by Berlin Fritz
Roughly the same as in UK, although with my 2000+ mega manic free-to-air sat progs it's worth it, innit. When I consider that my childhood visits to Grannie on the Isle of Wight/Alverstoke basically resulted in my sound overall judgement and peace of mind that I enjoy today & share with you peopel often, I can only but smile, innit.
Fritz Von As of next year all computer (online users) will be liable here to pay TV licences too, irrespective of wether they have one or not, so prepare for the new Tardis Tax, Master

Mr. Fritz,Mrs L here again, the thing about all the paperwork to apply to whatever is here too.As I'm of an advanced age , the goverment kindly gives me a few $'s, but oh boy, the paper work is on going amd after a while you just wonder if it's worth while.Nice to know you saw some part of my world , I returned the favour 3 yrs. ago to see how the old country had developed, mind you Dresden had just had the big flood but it was still a treat to see all the places I saw.Ok , this is Lomo's thingy so I'm going to shut it , but thank's again for helping me to understand how it is in your part of the world ,about the same as here.
