Guys,

Jerry Wexler age 91 has passed away. This guys contribution in producing the likes of Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Dire Straits, Dusty and a host of others is colossal.

RIP.

A music industry legend.

He worked with some of the greatest and in 1948 coined the phrase 'rhythm & blues'.

RIP Jerry.

Granted that this is a h-fi place and thus such talk should dominate but am I alone in being shocked at the lack of interest in this thread. If you love music then you must have some passing interest in Jerry Wexler. The man was truly a legend. We will not see his like again.

Mike - I was discussing Wexler with a couple of friends over dinner last night and we concluded that whilst his passing is terribly sad we did reckon that getting to 91 and having done the job he did was one hell of a good life. I trust he had few, if any, regrets.

Mike, I'm with you on Wexler's passing ... he was the real deal. His encouragement and direction of Aretha alone puts him in the hall of fame.

I suspect many folks don't know that much about him, or even who he is. And, like Fender says, at 91 he had a good long life and made a giant mark.

All the best,
Fred
