Which format for CDX2

Dear all:
I hope you can give me some help.
I want to record a number of old cassettes mainly radio broadcasts on to CD, now this part I can do as I have the usb device and some recording software for my MAC, so can get them onto the hard disk.
However I would like some advice on which format to save it or convert it to that will burn on to a CD which can be read and played on my CDX2. Can this be done?
