Wireless listening from computer
Posted by: Alexandernl on 11 January 2009
Hello everyone,
I would like to listen to last.fm or iTunes' radio stations (NOT: an iTunes music library) on my stereo. Does anybody know whether it's possible to send the signal wirelessly from my computer (Apple Macbook Pro) to my stereo (Nait 5i)?
Thanx,
Alexander

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've been told that an airport only sends your iTunes music library to your stereo, no radio stations.

Airport express and the excellent airfoil will do a fine job.
However I think a Squeezebox will do it without the requirement of a computer on somewhere.

Thanks Garyi. The airfoil is new to me, but it looks like it is what I was looking for. Do you only have to pay for it once?

Yes.
However also check out offerings from logitech, they have a few devices that you simply put on your home network and connect to your hifi and you are away.
An airport express and airfoil will require that you are in front of a computer to select the audio you want to stream. Might be inconvenient.

I will check them out.
In case I go for the airport: what kind of cables do I need to connect the airport with the 5i?

For internet radio you probably won't want to bother with a dac, so a stereo minijack to 2 phonos, or stereo minijack to din.

OK. Thanks again.
