Change output level of AV2 Digital Out

Hi there,

Does anyone know if you can change the volume level on the AV2's digital (Toslink) output?

The volume on the front dial does not affect it but I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a setting to adjust the output level?

No. And by reducing the volume you would reduce the amount of information in the signal. E.g. If you take a 16 bit digital signal output and reduce it in volume by 1/2 in the digital domain you are effectively drooping the resolution of the signal to 15 bits and losing information.

Best to keep the full signal resolution and then use a volume control just before converting to analog sound.

Thanks Stuart good to know! Just getting my AV2 hooked back up after a trip to Naim for repair and trying to work my Nait2 into the setup and get round the problem of channel imbalance at low volumes - doesn't look like I'll manage!
