I have an offer of a pair of ex dem SBL's in cherry at a price to be negotiated. I guess these are going to be a scarce item fairly soon and I have always wanted a pair. Snag is they have come a bit sooner than I anticipated.
Two questions-
I have IXO and 2 x 140, would you keep active and use this inferior crossover whilst saving for SNAXO/cap in the longer term or would you ditch the lot and use a single 250 hoping to sell the bits on loot?
Second question, any ideas on a reasonable ex-dem reduction from new price before I start haggling.

I'd take the 250 passive. Or even a single 140, with improvements to whatever is appropriate on your pront end or preamp.

Some might say that an active 140 system is better than a passive 250.
Given that your profile shows CDX/XPS/102/NAPSC/HiCap/ 140x2/IXO/Credo, I don't think "front end" is so much of an issue.
As ever, audition both systems and then decide.
