Anyone has heard the new Coldplay album? Is it better than the other two?Today I tryed to buy it but it was not available yet

No it is not better than the other two but it is a good CD and not a bad effort. To me, it is pretty similar stuff to previous outings.

Is it a better recording than 'Rush Of Blood'? I had a copy and never played it, because the recording was so awful.

They played it "live" on MTV to-day; sounds very similar to previous one; in fact the "Clocks" drum pattern appears on several tunes. I never realised how much they have appropriated the U2 template (partic the guitar approach). I don't hold this against them, however; my current faves* have appropriated Revolver and Imagine as theirs. All good rock to-day is derivative.

6 posts (well, 7 now) and 2 mention the word 'similar'.
Who'd have thought it, eh?
Peter (confirmed Coldplay, Travis, Keane etc etc etc hater)

Is it just me, or do all of their songs sound the same?

No - not you Nigel. In a similar vein, I think all Oasis sound the same as do all Travis. I think it is just part of the decline of modern day rock IMHO.

New White Stripes is somewhat different, will need a few more plays for me to be able to offer a more worthwhile critique. Listened to Coldplay and thought it too similar to the last albums, so it stayed in the shop.

Is Revolver Rock or Pop?

Coldplay new album seems XY - a couple of nice tracks thereupon, e.g. 'Fix you'.
The U2 - Beatles etc 'tunes' here and there made it more interesting.

Nothing on their new album stands out-unlike Parachutes or Rush.... Recording quality appears to be disappointing although mercifully free of the sibilance of Parachutes.
I ordered the new White Stripes on today-this probably has far more potential than Coldplays Contractual Obligation album.

Never thought they were a great band, but thought they were pretty good. A little too "anthem-ic" at times, a little too grandiose.
But I think the new album is pretty good. After just a couple listens, there are some songs I like pretty well here.

I have to say that I think this is a really good album.
It seems as if a lot of people have it in for this band. Each to their own but IMO this album is head and shoulders above most of this years releases. It also puts U2's last album (good in parts) in its place IMO.

'Talk' is great as is the hidden track at the end. Not keen on 'Fix you' though.
