n-Vi, a good idea?

There are some n-Vi:s starting to appear on the second-hand market at interesting prices, sometimes together with n-Sats.

What do you think? Is it a good idea to buy? I would appreciate thoughts from anyone with experience.

Hi Hans,

I have one for Home Cinema only and it sounds great. But the display broke the second time already (it starts with the appearance of dark pixels and it`s getting worse with time, but a have a very good dealer, who changed it every time) and the Memory-function is not really working well. If you can live with it and if you don`t need HD, it`s a good buy, because it sounds brilliant (in stereo of course, it has no chance against my CD5x/flatcap/122x/150x, even if it sounds good in stereo too). So, great sound with minor bugs.

I've had an n-Vi for 4 years now. A pain in the arse when it first came out due to software bugs but couple it with its superb video quality its stayed. It went off to Naim earlier this year to have its failed display changed and the latest firmware updates. Since then its been perfect. Its used every day for TV sound, FM / DAB and DVD playback and as i have no need for Bluray then it'll be with me for a good few years yet.
